Angelcare AC327 Baby Movement Monitor with Video & Sound Reviews

My first impression of this camera was that I thought what a great nice size parent unit came with it, this is something I have looked for in the past with our previous baby monitors. I was impressed that the camera sticks on with a magnet as well so there are loads of angles so you can achieve the best possible view of your baby. It’s good, it’s reassuring for parents knowing that the monitor will go off if there is no movement after a few seconds. I hate reading instructions but these are fairly simple to follow. They have pictures and a key of what’s what. Well I did it somehow so it must be simple ha ha! I’m useless at things like this normally. Once it’s set up it’s all easy, the hardest thing to remember is to press the button to pause the movement sensor when you get your baby out of their bed.  I forgot a few times and had the camera start beeping at me. As for the buttons on the monitor it takes a little getting used to and I’m not using it to full capacity yet as Lyla-Mae still prefers to be held while asleep. The sensor has gone off 3 times while we have been testing this monitor, nothing has been wrong thankfully! She was just snoring away, not sure why it was set off. But it wakes you up and scares you, so it’s good that it’s loud enough to wake you up to check on your baby. She slept as well as can be expected as a baby, it’s good there are no wires however I’m not sure how comfortable the sensor pad can be being under the mattress (we are in a mosses basket though). The video on the parent unit is great, it’s a great size monitor just what you need. It works and is clear in the day and at night. I haven’t used the monitor buttons too much but it all seems to be working well. The important thing for me is seeing my little girl and I do have a great view of her. I didn’t use the digital zoom and pan functions as it wasn’t needed but did a little test for the review I found these simple to use after reading the instructions you just need to get used to them. It’s helpful to know what the room temperature is, you know if you need to turn the heating up. It will be good in the summer as well then I will be able to decide what to put her to sleep in. It alerts you if to hot or cold not had these go off yet but it’s good to know that would happen. I would never use a monitor that needs Wi-Fi because of the horror stories you hear more about these monitors. I like this monitor it’s great we haven’t had any issues. We didn’t use the two-way talk feature as our little girl is only 7 weeks old so when she wakes it is for milk so wouldn’t be able to settle her this way. We have the camera set up on a tabletop in our bedroom. I like you can mount to a wall if you want or have it as we have. The camera goes in all directions as it’s on a magnet so really good at getting awkward angles. I barely get to put her down at the minute so don’t Currently get Daytime naps free but we get a little time in the evening where she normally happily goes in her crib, I’m happy to see her very well and know if she is upset or about to wake up. We had the camera in our room on some draws by her crib, so got a good view of her. I like parent unit size best, it’s something that I have looked for in the past when buying monitors. This is on the more expensive side especially in comparison to previous camera’s that we have had (these have all broken around the 3 year mark so let’s hope this one fairs better). Obviously you can be pretty anxious over your baby through and the amount of times I have held my own breathe to hear my children breathing is countless, so for peace of mind I do think it’s good value. So far so good, I feel the monitor is really good quality it feels sturdy and looks good. I think I would buy this as having the movement sensor pad definitely gives you peace of mind. The monitor has set off the alarm 3 times so far as false alarms not sure why but it’s good to know it would work if anything were to happen. I would recommend. It’s a great size monitor and the movement sensor is good, I don’t know how comfortable it is under our mosses basket mattress but she still sleeps ok (for a 7 week old). It definitely gives you peace of mind so I think people would find it reassuring to have and spend the extra money. Over all this is a great monitor, I think the parent unit is a great size, the camera is easily to adjust to any angle as it’s on a magnet, it has alerts for low battery for both sensor pad (pad hasn’t had low battery yet) and Parent unit (which has a great battery life) and the alarm for if baby doesn’t move is very reassuring (which goes off on both the actual camera and Parent unit). There is lots this camera can do that we haven’t used but I like the option are there and I think most things will be used as time goes on. I currently don’t use the parent unit very much as our little girl as with most babies likes to be held while asleep. When I do manage to get her in the Mosses basket and get a bit of grown up time downstairs I am happy the parent unit alerts you if the movement sensor goes off (we tested this), the parent unit is a great size you get a great view of your baby, it says the temperature in the room (also has alerts if too hot or cold) and the sound comes on when the mic picks sound up in the room. It seems this monitor will last a long time as well as you don’t have to have the motion sensor on so will be useful when your baby gets older. Throughout the night she sleeps and we have the parent unit off as the camera alerts you to any problems, starting to bleep then goes crazy after a few seconds. The camera has only bleeped crazily at me because I forgot to press the button on to the camera to pause the monitor sensor. You know if the sensor is paused when the light on camera flashes which is very handy when you can’t remember if you put it back on again. I do like this camera and feel it will last well as you don’t have to use the motion sensor which you won’t need as your child gets older. Vicki Jones – Lyla-Mae 7 weeks

The packaging provided a clear view of what was inside, and I was looking forward to trying it out. Angelcare is a baby brand I know and respect. I thought this was a really promising concept when it arrived, with the sensor providing extra peace of mind when my daughter is sleeping as she’s so young. Instructions for set up were relatively clear. This did not take too long to set up and was ready to be used really quickly. The cords were nice and long for use with the wall outlets. I sometimes got a bit confused navigating around the parent unit, and several times pressed the wrong button and then couldn’t go back to what I was trying to do, e.g. Zooming in when I didn’t mean to. There’s quite a few buttons and it’s not very clear what they all do. The sensor pad was effective as my daughter is a light sleeper and enabled me to check on her without disturbing her. The sensor pad itself is quite big so I was worried it would be uncomfortable for my baby but she didn’t seem to notice. The video quality was very clear and it was very easy to keep a close eye on my daughter as a paranoid mum! I really liked the size of the monitor as it’s much easier to check on your baby when the image is bigger. Much better than other monitors I’ve used. I didn’t find the Zoom feature that useful as we have the camera set up fairly close to the cot anyway. The temperature display is useful as it allows me monitor the temp of the room and adjust my daughter’s bedding accordingly, especially with the cold weather we’ve been having recently. It’s nice to know that extra security has been added for total peace of mind about someone hacking into the camera. We did not use the two-way talk back feature as my daughter is too young to respond to us talking to her. The fact it has a stand is really useful as it allows for easy positioning depending on where you’re using the camera. We used a flexi monitor holder which was attached to the side of the cot, and positioned above the cot. I really liked the large parent unit and video display. I think it is too expensive for what it actually offers, and I’m aware of other monitors that have a similar function which are much cheaper. All components of the monitor are well built and feel good quality. The video quality is really good. I would not buy this at the current price it is far too expensive and out of my price range.  I think for the majority of people this would be too expensive. Whilst the picture quality was excellent, and sensor worked well, I feel the price tag is just a bit too expensive. I enjoyed reviewing this item, and felt that the concept of the movement sensor provides parents with extra peace of mind. I also appreciated the size of the video monitor, which makes it really clear to see your baby. I would also like a simpler interface with clearer navigations around the buttons on the parent unit. Very well packaged, not as complicated as it seemed. All parts were available to set up within Lottie’s mosses basket. Felt reassured having the product to hand with being new parents and very anxious at night. Concept is great, especially for anxious parents like ourselves. We were nervous even having Lottie next to me as she is such a content baby, having the monitor mat is helping us monitor her movements and notifies us if minimal movement, to save on constant staring and testing her breathing. Instructions very well written and understandable. We found it easy to set up based on Lottie being beside us in the mosses basket, I would probably find it a little more difficult to set up when she is older and having to set up on her big cot but nothing which can’t be sorted. This was very easy to use. The secure monitoring of baby movement was effective and did what we needed. Helped us be assured when sleeping next to a content baby, there were no concerns with her sleeping. You did need to take time to set up under Lottie and making sure it was picking up correctly. The sensor pad did not disturb Lottie at all when sleeping. Based on our usage we haven’t used the camera, however I must note the camera visual could be better as it is quite blurry. Great screen size but not great quality photo, plus the screen seems a little fragile and concerned if pressed too hard it will break. Again minimal usage of the digital zoon and pan, but from what we have used the picture quality isn’t too great but ok for what we are using it for now. The room temperature display was a godsend. Living in a new build house the insulation is insane and can sometimes become VERY warm, this definitely took the pressure off and worrying about Lottie overheating. Knowing this works without Wi-Fi reassured us especially with people being able to hack in, it helped us know the baby and our privacy was/is safe when in use. Have not had to use the two-way talk back feature as yet,  but tested it with my husband. The sound is a little quiet but nothing we can’t work with in due course. As noted previously, the flexibility of the unit will be great when we place Lottie into her own cot when she is a little older, it most definitely helps with knowing we can place where we feel is the safest. We mainly used this in her mosses basket by the bed. Based on Lottie being a very content baby during the nights since birth, it helps us as new parents become reassured. I would note based on camera quality it’s on the high side of value, and maybe £150 is a more worthy price. Picture and sound quality could be better. I would buy this – monitoring the baby movements is great and helps reassure nervous parents. I would recommend however would recommend they shop around to find this at better price. Happy with the product so far and as noted previously having the reassurance that baby movements/sensor is there is great. We have used it since day dot in the mosses basket and it’s been a godsend knowing Lottie is very content, and helps us as parents sleep a lot better that there is an extra ‘eye’ on the baby.
