Ben & Anna Charcoal Toothpaste Reviews

I loved the packaging which was very modern and aesthetically pleasing, most toothpastes come in tubes but I loved the jar with spatula design. The concept is brilliant though I did have my reservations on whether it would actually work. The instructions were very easy to follow and explained exactly what was needed to be done to use the toothpaste. The steps were simple and not confusing in any way. I love the design of the tub, it makes it much easier to store than most toothpastes as they don’t stand and regularly fall out of the bathroom cabinet, the jar was a welcome addition and I haven’t looked back. I was really impressed by the spatula design as it is more hygienic than putting the brush into the pot and allows the correct amount to be placed onto the brush. The taste and aroma of the toothpaste was great and I could instantly feel it foaming and cleaning my teeth. This is the freshest my teeth have felt in a long time. I regularly buy branded toothpastes and even tried charcoal toothpaste previously but didn’t like it as it didn’t feel clean. This toothpaste is fresh and my mouth instantly feels refreshed. I have previously had my teeth whitened at the dentist and they had started to discolour slightly due to foods and drinks though after only one use of this toothpaste they were whiter and cleaner with stains removed.  My teeth feel protected as they haven’t become sensitive and gently removed stains; the toothpaste is not abrasive and has a minty fresh taste just like regular toothpaste. I have used this toothpaste twice daily and will continue to do so.  Being a natural product, with no Parabens SLs etc., was not previously important to me though now it would be, I will definitely purchase this toothpaste in future. My husband has also used this product and commented on how effective it was. His teeth were lightly stained but these stains have now been lifted. I cannot fault this product at all. The smell is appealing as well as the flavour and the presentation. I believe this product to be very good value for money due to the amount you get in the jar as well as its effectiveness. I love the design of the product and the effectiveness of its whitening properties. I will be buying this in the future. I will recommend this to both friends and family due to the effectiveness for such a reasonable price. Fantastic product with amazing results. The taste and aroma of the item are exceptional and the design is quirky yet eco-friendly. I have thoroughly enjoyed reviewing this product and am thrilled with the whitening results I have achieved in such a short space of time. I will continue to use this item to prolong the results of my dental treatment. Rianon Jones

I was surprised by the size of the jar and very interested to see if it would work. It’s a great concept; it’s eco-friendly and great value. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. It took a while to get use to using a jar and spatula, but the design is good. The jar isn’t too deep and is fairly wide so the toothpaste is easily accessible. I found the spatula a little fiddly to begin with, but you get the hang of it fairly quickly. The toothpaste, albeit a different colour, works well and it does feel like your teeth are being cleaned well. The mild mint flavour of the toothpaste was perfect, it left your breath fresh but didn’t feel overpowering in your mouth. My teeth felt clean after use. I have noticed that most of the tea stains from my teeth; even those at the back have disappeared. My teeth do feel a little protected, however they have felt a little more sensitive since using the charcoal toothpaste. I have used this every day. I’m pleased that it contains no nasty ingredients and comes in recyclable packaging. There are so many things that have unnecessary chemicals that this is a breath of fresh air. The quality is great. I think it is a little expensive, but when you can get a lot of use out of it and it does work at getting stains out. I liked that it was natural and did actually remove stains. I would buy this as it is a great product. I would recommend but I think a lot of my friends may be sceptical. It’s a great product and well made, the jar and spatula take a while to get used to. I used this toothpaste with an electric toothbrush and it worked well, the tea stains from my teeth have gone. Using the spatula can be tricky to get the hang of, but it works well. Rachel Sveinsson

I thought this looks different, as it comes in a glass container. Great as you can recycle but bad if you are as clumsy as me. Also feel it may be harder to travel with as it’s not as compact as normal toothpaste tubes. I was also unsure about it being a black charcoal paste. I think it’s a really good idea. It’s great for the environment, helps the ocean and the bottle is recyclable.  Instructions very simple and easy to follow. Looking at it, I think it’s great. It’s a glass tub so can be recycled, also looks good. I found it a bit of a faff to be honest. I am clumsy as well so constantly thought I was going to drop something and on occasions I did.  I was sceptical about it but it did feel like it was working.  My teeth did fell clean and breath fresh, but no different to the results I get with my normal toothpaste. I don’t have any stains on my teeth now due to the dentist anyway. But also didn’t notice any change in my teeth. I think this protected my teeth, but then I don’t even think about this with my normal toothpaste I just assume it does what it says. To start day and night but then less so as we went away and I found it too much hassle to mess around doing this and getting the kids to bed (especially after a drink). I have not looked at toothpaste before and analysed ingredients.  So for me being natural etc. is not something I make a point of looking for in this sort of product.  I think the quality is high, it looks posh coming in a glass container, this is vegan and supports ocean cleaning (which is becoming more of a hot topic with removing beads from other toothpastes), is cruelty free and natural. In my mind there is no doubt to the quality of this. I can’t justify the price of this toothpaste even with all the plus points it has, I feel like a bad human for this but I can’t spend nearly £9 on it when I normally spend £1. I really liked that it is good for the environment it’s important to try and improve what sort of place we live. I would personally not consider buying this toothpaste. I think it stands for a lot so if I ever met someone that was really into this kind of thing I would mention it, but no because of the price and the way you have to mess around.  I like what Ben & Anna toothpaste stands for with it being natural, vegan, ocean friendly etc. but I really just can’t get my head around how you have to apply the toothpaste and how much I also dislike the mess it makes in the sink as it’s black.  I didn’t really like it, I feel guilty for saying this as they are creating product that are helping protect the ocean etc. but I hated messing around trying to scoop the tooth paste on to my tooth brush, I seemed to have too much or too little, the smell reminded me of the dentist, the mess was like no other in my sink, I managed to get the black paste all over my face at times, I constantly though I was going to smash the glass container. I really feel like I have just gone on a real rant and downer on this toothpaste and hope others pick up on some of the good points that I know are there just not for me. Vicki Jones
