Loved the packaging plain and simple but colourful. I think it’s great my boy loves it the fact you can explore different emotions is amazing. Clear instructions the pictures are great my boy loved copying them. My boy had no trouble holding the parts this the perfect sized pieces so easy to slot into the pineapple toy and to remove to change the face. My boy loved the different eyes and eyebrows and he was showing me the faces he’s created and copying them to show me how to change his real life expression. He was obsessed with the mirror we used this as a tool to copy his facial expression on the pineapple. My boy loved showing me what face is what and even helped him identify the difference between eyebrows and how they change when your mood changes. My child loved the poster as it showed him how many facial expressions you could have and create on his pineapple. This toy has helped my son so much he even uses it to express when he doesn’t want to say how he is feeling, he simply puts the expression on the pineapple and points to it. Me and my boy found this the most exciting part of the toy we love how all the parts store inside the pineapple ready to play with again. This kept him entertained for hours. He literally wouldn’t let me put it away and insisted we played with him which i did and enjoyed creating faces on the pineapple. This has been played with every day and still does we put it in our routine every day to express how he is feeling on the day. Played with this at home. He loved the fact he can create so many different faces. I like how easy it all stores away with all the parts fitting inside the head. Ideal age suitability for my boy. He’s just turned 3 so perfect for us. Most definitely ideal for nursery schools so they can learn about facial expressions which is important. The price is affordable and more than reasonable. I would consider buying it as a gift for a little one in the family. I would recommend as it is a brilliant product for children of all ages as parents we seek for a toy that has learning features and fun packed this defo has both. I give this product 5/5 as this toy has exceeded my expectations I loved the neat feature of keeping all the parts inside the pineapple and how much fun it is and how much my boy has learned about different facial expressions. All in all my experience with this product is top marks not only does your child have fun creating different expressions but your child is learning as well and can use this pineapple every day to express how they are feeling if they can’t tell you. As a mum we all know sometimes your child can’t tell us how they feel but with toy they can show us. 1000% plus more recommend this toy. Portia Horwood – Cooper 3 Years

Looked exciting, vibrant and Trudy could not wait to play with this. Great simple idea and a toy that can help children understand facial expressions/emotions. Instructions very clear and so easy to follow. The pieces were ideal for my daughter to hold and easy to fit onto the pineapple. She loved creating all the different faces on the pineapple and we would have discussions about the face she made and what the emotion was. Very helpful and educational too. The mirror was a hit as she would pull faces (different expressions) then copy onto the face of the pineapple. This was really helpful in getting Trudy to create facial expressions and then talking about what they meant and how that facial expression was a feeling. Really helped us to teach her about how people are feeling and she relates to friends and family a lot more now as looks at face to see how they are feeling. She loved the poster. This has helped her to understand how she is feeling. Sometimes she would make a face up and show us and say this is how I feel and we would talk about it so she understood her emotion at that time. Reat that all the parts fit into the pineapples head as easy to clear away and store. This has really captured my daughters imagination and she loves playing with this. So many parts and helps them get creative trying to replicate various moods and expressions. This was played with at home, but we did take it to Grandparents and they had fun joining in. She loved fitting different parts onto the pineapple face to show so many different looks, moods and expressions. I loved the fact it helped her relate to how she is feeling and how others are feeling and that she had so much fun playing with this. Ae suitability spot on. To have this in Nursery schools would be great and the children would have so much fun exploring facial expressions and learn to interact and relate to others and understand their emotions. For the amount of entertainment it gave my daughter superb value. I would definitely buy this as a gift. I would recommend for all the reasons above. Top marks from us. My daughter has had so much fun creating different faces and it has sparked lots of discussions about feelings and emotions. We loved this. Tracey Dean – Trudy 3 Years

Ciara Awarded The Big Feelings Pineapple™ Deluxe Set 3.5/5

I thought the bright colourful box was very pleasing to the eye and my 4 year old was delighted with it and excited to open it up and play with it. Great idea and I was very excited to use it as I thought my child was the perfect age where we are trying to help her deal with her emotions before she goes into primary school. Instructions clear and concise and a great help for parents who purchase this toy as a learning tool for children. I think this is where the toy could be improved. It is very difficult for a child to press the pieces in correctly to the pineapple and even more awkward to get back out (my 4 year old couldn’t and I almost lost a nail a couple of times myself). It meant she struggled to play with it independently. She doesn’t really understand opposites at age 4 but I liked the way it was explained on the poster. The mirror isn’t very clear (it has a distorted reflection) so we didn’t really use this aspect of the toy. She noticed it “looked funny” and preferred to match faces to the poster. I think it certainly helped but It needs a lot of parent’s assistance so I don’t feel it’s as much a toy as a learning tool. It felt more educational than “fun” at times and I think a lot of parents may only buy if specifically dealing with emotional issues in their children. She loved the poster. She loved the laminated faces to explain emotions -some were very challenging for this age group but can grow with the child. However some of the pieces suggested don’t actually match e.g. when you do the nervous or hopeful faces to match the poster they don’t actually look like nervous or hopeful faces. I think in helped her to learn about feelings and we used it alongside the “all about feelings” book to try and display different emotions she wasn’t overly familiar with yet. While the concept of this was great, the lid doesn’t actually fit properly -just falls off which is annoying. It also doesn’t hold the posters which are needed to play which meant I still needed to store everything in the box it came with. I think adding a small storage bag to store the pineapple and posters in would appeal to parents. Unfortunately I think this is too complicated for young children as it needs parents assistance to work effectively. It also needs pre teaching of the vocabulary so they need help. My child also struggled with fitting the pieces in by herself so she often gave up after 10 minutes playing. Whenever I took it out she was happy to play with it. I would say at least 1-2 times a week. Played with at home as too many pieces to bring out and about. She liked sticking the faces on and trying to copy the poster. I liked the concept and it really is a very beneficial teaching toy/learning aid. My child turned 4 in November so I thought this was a perfect age to start this. I think 3 might be a bit young apart from the very basic emotions. I think the idea of this toy would be great in an educational setting but the toy itself might needs to be more child user friendly with fewer pieces. (Choking hazards, difficult to pin on for children and most would need one to one help with this toy). I think £20 is very expensive for what it is. Especially once pieces start to go missing which will definitely happen with young children. The pineapple was good quality plastic but the pieces themselves were quite flimsy and easy to break especially the small orange ones (e.g. if accidentally stood on which happens a lot with little kids in your house). It also doesn’t stand fully upright and often just topples over. You have to hold it a certain way to get the pieces on. I probably would not buy at RRP but might it see it on offer. I would recommend if it was something they felt they needed help with (teaching feelings) but for a fun toy e.g. a present, no I don’t think so unless certain aspects were changed. Overall it’s a great idea and wonderful educational toy but too many drawbacks-it’s expensive, complicated for children without assistance, the pieces are too hard to fit on and some of the facial parts that come with it don’t even match the poster. Enjoyed the initial playing and teaching but in my opinion too complicated for this age group as it needs pre-teaching -tough vocabulary for the younger age and the pieces are too difficult for children to put on and pull off themselves. Storage is ok but could be improved as lid falls off and doesn’t fit the posters so you still need to keep the box or find another container to store the complete set in. The pineapple doesn’t stand upright properly unless the mirror is on. The mirror has a distorted blurry image. The facial pieces included don’t always match the emotions on the poster. Not very parent friendly -can’t take your eyes off the set or pieces will go missing/get damaged. Ciara Polhill – Aoibhin 4 Years
