Upon opening the package we found some leaflets with information about dental hygiene and other Brush Baby products available. It looked new and the information included felt more useful (like something you would be given from a trip to the dentist) than just information for information’s sake. There were also stickers (which were a great incentive for them to go and brush their teeth) we found out that there are different characters for each stage of toothpaste; a discussion sparked by my 6 year old and this helped her feel comfortable with the product and therefore more inclined to use it. I feel like Mild Mint Toothpaste is a really good idea for children, as often they have used the wrong quantity of toothpaste because of the taste (or lack of). Both of my children brush their own teeth now and I need them to not find it too minty so they will brush all areas of their mouth for the whole two minutes. There are directions given on the reverse of the tube and these are simple and easy to follow. What I like about them is it gives a reason behind the instruction. For example ‘use a pea sized amount for supervised brushing to minimise swallowing’. We all liked the design of the tube. I specifically liked that there was no box. As I find a tube inside a box is less than inspiring, and such a waste of cardboard, I was happy this just came ready to go, it also means you never lose the information on the back. The tube design wasn’t too plain or too busy, just enough to draw the attention of the children. It’s also a really handy size for them to squeeze with one hand. The plastic is soft enough for them to squeeze some out on to their brush and the product is of a good consistency to avoid huge messes in the sink. This toothpaste is spearmint, as opposed to peppermint, which aids in it not being too overpowering, but having tested it myself it’s still minty enough to feel like you have clean teeth. I’m also not keen on alternative flavours of toothpaste especially for children, so I’m really pleased the mint flavour of Brush Baby Spearmint 6+ was a hit! In the words of my 8 year old “this is the best flavour toothpaste we’ve ever had!” The flavour of the toothpaste definitely had a positive impact. They are happy to go and do it and considering it has been four consistent weeks I’m surprised we haven’t had any struggles to convince either of them that it’s a really important part of their routine (especially the older child as she has all adult teeth). It also helped them keep brushing for longer before spitting it out. This toothpaste was definitely effective. Their teeth look clean and my 6 year old comes to me regularly with a massive grin to check she’s not missed out any of her teeth! I obviously have no way to check the levels of acid in their mouths the next morning but I will say that their teeth look clean. And the morning after I tried it for myself I didn’t have ‘furry’ teeth, which is something I end up with from some toothpaste brands. I will admit that I had to read up on this. It’s not something I actively sought for in cosmetic products previously but after some research it’s actually something I will now seek alternatives for. Being free from Paraben (artificial preservatives) reassures me as a parent that I’m providing a more natural alternative for my children. After I looked up SLS I found it is used to help toothpaste foam. I would say this is actually a good thing not to be included in children’s toothpaste. My children know if they have brushed effectively as they can still see their teeth. The girls used the toothpaste morning and evening for 4 weeks so far and there is still quite a lot remaining. I don’t think we’ve ever had toothpaste that lasts this long while still doing an effective job. This toothpaste feels higher quality as it’s a gel rather than a chalky paste. I feel like there is a lot of research behind it and that gives me confidence in the product. Priced at £1.99, there are larger brands with more competitive prices but to me the quality of this product outweighs the slight increase in price. My favourite thing about this product is that somehow I feel as though it has encouraged my children to take positive steps in caring for their teeth. Whether it’s the little creatures that give out good advice or just the ease of use of the product- I’m not sure, but I feel as though tooth brushing time isn’t going to be difficult any more. I will absolutely be buying a replacement for this product when it runs out. Along with some of the other products Brush Baby provides. I will recommend this product to friends and family, especially if they are having difficulty encouraging their children to brush twice a day. I have scored this product 5 out of 5 for a number of reasons. Firstly the flavour and quality of the toothpaste. Secondly the physical appearance of the product and the packaging and finally because of the price point. This product has been really fun for us to review together. My children have enjoyed using it and I’ve enjoyed not having to persuade them to brush their teeth before bed. I also enjoyed researching the ingredients in my current toothpastes and it has actually made me rethink my choices for me and my family. It was also nice to have an alternative from the two/three big brands of toothpaste but also have confidence that it will do a good job. I am currently expecting my third child and I’m excited to use some of Brush Baby’s products for babies; as I feel like I can rely on the research behind it. Big smiles from our household to yours! Hannah Holt – Charlotte and Emily – 8 & 6 Years

Loved the way it came with information leaflets not only about the toothpaste but what you can also buy for different aged children from their range. Loved the tally chart children can follow to ensure they are brushing their teeth regularly.Very good concept and very appealing to the child. Instructions clear. It’s nice and easy just a pea sized amount to be used. Design was easy for my 7yr old to use she could squeeze it out easily but it did get a difficult towards the end of the tube. She loved the taste and didn’t complain at all. It did help her enjoy brushing her teeth as she said it tasted not too minty. Very effective as she was keen to use it twice a day and labelled it as just hers! Because it has the necessary ingredients in it and if used properly I have no need to doubt it shouldn’t do its job. It is not important to me Paraben and SLS Free as I do not know much about this. We used this twice a day. Good quality, tasted nice she was very happy using it and no one else was allowed to use it! I would pay 1.99 for it easily. If my child is happy then I am happy. I would buy this as good value for money lasted all month using it twice a day and my daughter really liked the taste.I would recommend as it is good toothpaste. Nice bright colours on the tube so pleasing to the eye. Tastes nice. Easy to use.Loved the tally chart. Easy to use. Good value for money. Lasted all month despite being used twice a day. Tastes nice. Over all a lovely toothpaste. Cheryl Nagati – Soraya 7 Years

I thought the packaging was bright, colourful and fun, just the sort of product that would appeal to my son. Anything which encourages teeth brushing is great in my book! I have a slightly fussy child who doesn’t like the taste of mint. In fact all of my children are the same. Anyway, they all liked the taste of this toothpaste. It was definitely mild, but minty enough to freshen breath. Perfect. The instructions are usual. Easy to follow, which I would generally expect from a children’s toothpaste. The design of the tube was lovely and colourful as I mentioned above. The quality of the tube was good and I really liked that the lid was attached to the tube as children tend to leave the tops off after use. The toothpaste was very thick which I thought was a bonus but it did make it a little difficult to squeeze out – even as an adult it was pretty challenging. My child really liked the taste of the toothpaste. He normally does not like the taste of mint, but this was mild enough for him to enjoy. My son enjoyed the taste which definitely encouraged him to brush his teeth. He would normally point blank refuse to use toothpastes which are overly minty. So that was a definite plus. This toothpaste was effective for my child to use as it was free of parabens and SLS. These are the factors I look for when purchasing toothpaste for my children. It cleaned my son’s teeth well. I understand that the addition of fluoride helps to strengthen tooth enamel and xylitol to reduce acids. I felt that my son’s teeth were protected using this toothpaste. It is important to me that the toothpaste is paraben and SLS free. These are factors that I look for when purchasing toothpaste for my children. My son used this toothpaste twice per day morning and evening. I like the product; it has a thick texture and cleaned my son’s teeth well. It doesn’t lather up much but that could be down to the omission of SLS. I think £1.99 is about average for a tube of children’s toothpaste. It lasted a while so seems to be value for money.I liked that it was SLS free and my son was happy to use it. I would consider using it. It was a good product and my son liked the taste. It served its purpose and cleaned his teeth effectively and my son really liked it.I would recommend to friends and family as my son enjoyed the taste and it cleaned his teeth well. The product also has no SLS which appeals too many of my health conscious friends and family. I have no negatives with the product apart from the difficulty of getting the toothpaste out of the tube after a few uses. I would still buy the product. Overall, I am very pleased with thisproduct. My son enjoyed the minty taste and was happy to brush his teeth so we had no dramas! In buying a children’s toothpaste, I am looking for a product without as many unnecessary artificial additions as possible, so the fact that it was SLS-free was a positive. It has a lovely colourful packaging and I feel it would stand out amongst some of the other products on the market. I was happy to review the product and will purchase in the future. Marsha Andes – Tayo 7 Years
