CONNETIX TILES – 120 PIECE PASTEL CREATIVE PACK Reviews

This was very heavy, packaging nice and colourful. Easy to handle for little hands, pretty pastel colours. The instructions were very simple to read and included pictures. The pieces are easy for little hands to hold, my 2 year old can easily put these together. My two children absolutely love these magnets we have had these for a couple of months now and they still play with them daily. The possibilities are endless with these magnets my children love being able to build little houses for their toys or even a big house for them to fit inside of. This did help them learn colours and shapes and my 2 year old now knows the difference between a square and a rectangle. My children have made all sorts of shapes and they have made towers big enough to fit inside of which they have great fun doing. We have had these magnets for a couple of months now and my children still play with them daily. My two youngest children play with these the most but my two teenage children also love playing with these and also adults they are very addictive. I am planning on purchasing some of the large connetix tiles so we can build even bigger buildings. My children play with these tiles at home. My child like being able to build independently and creating a different shape or building each time. I really like that these tiles are great for my children’s imagination and keep them occupied more than any of their other toys. I think these tiles are good value for money, the only thing I would change is the packaging, the cardboard box is not strong enough for the weight of the magnets. I understand the box is environmentally friendly but if the box was plastic I would have taken these out of the house on weekends away etc. On first impression I thought the tiles would crack but two months on they have been thrown and stood on and are still as good as new. I would purchase this product and I am intending on purchasing more of these products. I would recommend to friends, when we have friends over my daughter gets the magnets out and everyone gets involved. These magnets are brilliant they are great for a child’s imagination, hand eye coordination, learning colours and shapes. The only thing I would change is the packaging. Great product, the magnets are strong so my child likes being able to build in all directions. They are so good for their imagination and hand eye coordination, the plastic is strong and easy to clean these will last for many years. Katie Cottrell – Reggie 4 Years

Our first impression was the sheer size and weight of the set 106 pieces of building material. The magnetic tiles, track and balls came packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with a thinner outer cardboard sleeve. Our only disappointment was that the contents did not match the picture on the sleeve of the box. The concept allows children to be as creative as they want, but at the same time they are also putting their motor stills to good use. Fine motor skills in manipulating the tiles, but as they start to build bigger and bigger structures with the Connetix tiles they’re also starting to physically move around their play space and arrange their creations as their imagination dictates. The instructions, also known as an inspiration book, outlined a variety of sets available, with inspirational ideas for exploring, playing and creating with Connetix tiles. The product pictures and photographs are bright and colourful. However, a step by step guide of putting the structures together would have been helpful. My daughter found the Connetix magnetic square pieces easy to put together and built towers and patterns. However, she did struggle with the plastic ball track pieces. They are quite fiddly to put together for young children, and in most instances come in two pieces, which both need to be clicked into the middle of the magnetic tiles to build a track. My daughter enjoyed experimenting with different configurations, and discovering how changes in slope and angles affected the speed and trajectory of the balls. Thanks to the strong magnetic connections, my daughter loved building and creating structures with the tiles, however she did get frustrated when her constructions collapsed. My daughter did not have the opportunity to learn different shapes as we only received square tiles in the pack. However, she did recognise the different colours of the tiles and balls. As there were no set shapes to build, the open-ended nature of the set fostered my daughter’s imagination and allowed for endless possibilities of building combinations. My daughter played with this set every couple of days. She preferred to play with it when adults were present to help her build the ball track structures. The Connetix Tiles Ball Run Pack encourages collaborative play and social interaction – in our experience, this was apparent across the ages, as we worked together as a family to design complex ball runs and problem solve. We would consider adding to our collection with other Connetix tiles and toys, as we received the ball run extension pack and my daughter was disappointed we had no alternative shapes to build castles and houses as shown in the inspiration guide. My daughter played with the set mainly in the lounge where her toys are kept. My daughter liked the fact she could build towers taller than her with a little adult help! We liked that the Connetix Tiles Ball Run Pack can be used on its own and doesn’t need additional sets, even though it is referred to as an extension pack. However, if we did have more tiles we could have made bigger ball runs and other structures. Connetix is value for money, even though it is expensive, as it is a toy which the whole family can play with and have endless imaginative fun, but also challenges everyone on different levels. Much like Lego or any of the other free-play games and toys, you don’t’ stop playing with Connetix just because you’re past a certain age. Connetix pieces appear to be robust and very good quality. The food grade, non-toxic pieces have strong magnets along each edge which allow the pieces to ‘stick’ to each other and build structures or shapes. The riveted corners make them extra safe for toddlers and children and the bevel design gives extra strength. The plastic ball track pieces are flimsier and not as robust as the tiles. I would consider buying the Connetix magnetic tiles as after constructing tall towers and tracks for the balls these pieces appear to have some scratch resistance and still look brand new even after crashing to the floor after an imaginative creative play session. The powerful magnetic building plate design makes for a real quality toy, one which I am more than happy to recommend to others. I would recommend Connetix magnetic tiles to friends and family as the standout feature lies in the robustness of their magnets, ensuring the construction of sturdy and reliable structures capable of supporting complex and intricate designs. Connetix Magnetic Tiles are a powerful educational tool that excels in promoting cognitive development, spatial awareness, and social skills. With their unique design, vibrant colours, and commitment to safety, Connetix sets a standard for magnetic tile toys. Mairi Mackenzie – Aisling 4 Years

Good packaging, very heavy so not suitable for Emmie to get out and put away herself. This is a good game to develop her fine motor skills and the shapes she can make are good for her imagination. The instructions are actually an inspiration book that shows different things you can make – it would have been nice to have a couple of info leaflets that step by step show how to make some of the shapes maybe per difficulty level. Emmie was able to fit the pieces together easily but struggled to get these to build upwards partly because she is used to blocks and how they connect- she can clip them together as a 2D model not as 3D she needs help to get her started. The magnets hold the pieces strongly together in their blocks but when you stick them together 3D they can be a little temperamental which can cause a toddler tantrum! Emmie likes clipping these together but gets frustrated when they won’t always connect and build upwards for her so we tend to play this together. She enjoyed the magnets and thinks it’s funny how they slot together like magic but she has struggled to do anything other than stack them all together without being led. She already knows her colours and shapes but can tell me what they are so I guess it reinforces it. I think some basic ideas would have helped as she looked a bit blank as to why I’d given her the set first and just made them all into one massive slab – I know you can print some off from the connetix website but as we haven’t got a printer to hand it wasn’t that easy. This was not played with that often, but I think mainly because the box is so heavy she can’t just get it out alone and needs me to get it for her. She has been more interested in other toys but when we have time alone and now have the space again we will now be able to get this out and play together. She has only played this with me (single mum) she has no siblings/ cousins. I have enjoyed helping her and making little towers with her and she seems to have enjoyed playing with this but she never tends to choose it. I have heard friends say their older kids like this (6/7yr olds). Presently this is a large enough set for our needs and would not have the room to add more pieces. Played with this at home and we play at the table or on the dining room floor as these don’t stand well on our carpet. She liked the magnetic connection and to be able to stack them all together. She does seem to prefer her blocks. I liked the fact it is coloourful and creative and mess free. I do believe this is value for money although it is an expensive outlay but I think a smaller set to start would be fine. I wouldn’t have paid £115 for it without knowing she could use it and enjoyed playing but £30-40 for a smaller set I would have. This is a very good quality product it’s sturdy and made of good quality materials. I would buy Connetix but I would either buy a small set or would buy for a school age as opposed to preschool age child as I feel that a slightly older child would have more independent play – whereas my child wants and needs me with her as she wants to build like she can with blocks. I would recommend as I think it’s a good toy for building and growing imagination. I have only marked this down slightly as I feel it’s quite expensive for the set and isn’t as toddler friendly as I would like as it’s too heavy a box for my child to lift and also she needs help to make 3D objects. I also feel that there needs to be some basic sheets for the child to follow to make some shapes or objects. I am very happy with the tiles and think they will be an excellent toy as Emmie gets a bit older and less frustrated when things don’t work for her!! I have found lots of shapes we can make on the website and I will screenshot some of these – it would be nice if they could have added a few of differing difficulty in the box.
