Contented Calf Cookbook

The Contented Calf Cookbook – Nourishing Recipes For Breastfeeding Mums: to promote milk production.

Inspired by a friend’s quest to improve her milk supply and her discovery of lactogenic foods, Elena Cimelli created this unique cook book with food writer Jassy Davis to give new parents a one-stop collection of delicious, lactogenic meals, snacks, drinks and treats.
Drawing on Elena’s own experience of cooking and freezing meals ahead of the birth of her daughter, the majority of the meals are designed to be made and frozen in the weeks leading up to the birth of your child. All the recipes are nourishing and full of flavour and they’ll appeal to partners, children, friends and non-breastfeeding mums, too.

The quality of the book is quite good, but for £14.99 I would prefer a
hardback. The front cover with the beef
stew was appealing as it looked yummy but maybe could be a bit more colourful. I have not seen any cookbook’s like this for
breastfeeding mums. The beginning section
with info was good to read about lactogenic diet & foods, also the info on
freezing & measurements were handy. The recipes were lovely & pictures
made the food look yummy but could have had a few more pictures. I really enjoyed using this cookbook for the
recipes and also had some very helpful information. I mentioned before the info on the lactogenic
diets & foods was interesting to read. But the guide to freezing &
measurements was handy to have. I think
the price is reasonable but for nearly £15 a hardback would make it feel more
quality. But the book is full of recipes & useful info so worth the money. I would recommend to other breastfeeding
mums. I have already told family about
this book as the recipes are lovely to have even if there is no breastfeeding
mums’ eating! Lovely book, full of
exciting recipes to try for all the family.Sam Suthers – Saffy 11 Weeks

My initial impression of the cookbook was that it looked very appealing;
the exterior of the book looks luxurious, with an appetising picture! Great quality. Good quality covers, wipe
clean feel. If I saw this book on the
shelf it would have immediately attracted my attention as it looks like a great
quality buy for £14.99. I haven’t looked
at this type of book before. I very much
enjoyed this cookbook, as well as some good recipes; it has some great tips and
knowledge inside. I did enjoy using the
recipes that I liked, however a lot of the recipes contained ingredients that I
don’t like. No fault on the book. I
really enjoyed the quality of the book and the forewords from mums who had been
there and ‘got the t-shirt’. The only
thing I can fault about it is the lack of recipes I liked. However, this is no
fault on the book more my personal taste. If I was going to buy a book like
this in the future I would check the recipes first. I cannot fault the book and certainly good
value for money. I would recommend this
product, to people. To look at to see if they like the recipes. I would
recommend this cookbook as easy to use for all the family and easily
cleaned. I loved the book on initial
receipt. I was disappointed by the lack of recipes I could use. The recipes I
used I thoroughly enjoyed. Love the small details in the book. Leanne Lewis – Louella 6 Months

Interested in the contents but personally I did not find the front
cover very appealing. This is a good
quality book and well presented. I
personally thought the cover is very dull and the food on the front doesn’t
look great, could be more colourful. Other
cook books are more colourful and glossy and I find that a lot more appealing. I found the contents very interesting and I
wasn’t aware that food impacted your milk supply so much. However, the list of foods was very
extensive, you could almost just say “eat a healthy diet” rather than having
specific foods for milk production. The
recipes in the book were easy to follow and used ingredients that are readily
available. I particularly liked the
lunch ideas as this is a meal where I normally have the same thing again and
again. I like the concept of this book
and the idea that food can help you to breastfeed. I think if it was £10 it would represent much
better value for money. I will
definitely continue to use the recipes in this book. I would also recommend this cookbook. I think the idea of this book is great and it
could be used to help people to breastfeed by looking after their diet. I think it could look a lot more attractive
and that would increase its appeal.Catherine Steele – Hope 7 Months
