It is a very good idea and is very economical to use. I found that I needed to use two applications of soap to thoroughly wash my hands, it was however enough for my 2 year olds little hands. It was very good at cleaning, even after the children had participated in various forms of messy play. It left our hands feeling very soft and smelling lovely. The smell of the cucumber wash was divine and very fresh smelling, it is the best smelling hand wash product that I have ever used. We kept this in the bathroom and used daily. The design of the bottle was nice, although I feel if it had something written on the front it would have made things a little easier. Guests were not aware of what it was and thought I had been amiss in putting soap out; I therefore had to explain to guests where the soap was. Good value for money, very easy to use, hygienic system that doesn’t cost an awful lot of money. Definitely recommend and I have already stocked up on refills even though my original soap seems to be lasting for ages. It is a hygienic sensible answer to hand washing which smells wonderful and leaves your hands feeling soft and clean. Deborah Hames – Elizabeth & Grace 5 & 2 Years

Rather cool and fun, and I and the family were excited about testing it. (All my friends that saw and went on to use it thought the same.) The idea is brilliant, and the dispenser worked perfectly every time (and did not leave drops of soap on the kitchen surface after it had dispensed). The amount dispensed for each use I thought it was slightly too much. Could have dispensed slightly less and lasted longer. The soap dispensed smelt lovely and was soft in its use. My hands smelt lovely after use. However, I have dry skin on my hands, so I have to say that the soap did dry my hands out more that the usual soap I use. Are Dettol intending to make a ‘sensitive’ soap for the dispenser I wonder? Loved the aroma! Had a refreshing smell and feel to it. We used this in the kitchen – and that worked perfectly. If you have been touching meat for example, a hands free dispenser is perfect to use. (Could also do with a hands free tap though to complete the task without touching anything). I would use this every time I washed my hands in the kitchen – frequently throughout the day. Design of bottle was good and really easy to slot into the dispenser. Personally I do not feel this does offer good value for money. The refill is far too expensive at £2.89. I buy sensitive liquid soap for each of the bathrooms and kitchen in my house for 75p a bottle – I could get 4 bottles for the price of one Dettol dispenser refill! The product itself is fine to recommend, but I would advise people that the refills are expensive. Concept is great and initial outlay of £7.99 would be fine, if the refills were a reasonable price to buy. Sharon Carley-Macauly – Grace & Benjamin 6 months and 7 Years

Nicely packaged, press release laid out product claims effectively. Pleased that it came with everything required including batteries. However, did strike me as slightly odd– after you touch a “germy” soap pump you then wash your hands so how exactly does this product benefit people worried about germs and bacteria? Worked well, instructions very clear and product was easy to set up. I did think that the concept was a fantastic idea for those who suffer with dexterity problems in their hands, and was useful for helping my son to wash his hands as he struggles to use a regular soap pump. I found I usually had to use two pumps to get a decent lather and my hands needed to be really wet first, which meant dripping water all over my worktop. Smell was nice, very fresh cucumber scent, and my hands did feel clean afterwards without feeling dried out at all. It was a relief to know that after handling meat or fish that my hands would be bacteria free or that my sons hands were clean after he had been playing outside. Was surprised as my skin can be quite sensitive to some products but I had no reaction to this at all. I really liked the cucumber smell, it reminded me of summer, however my partner (who dislikes cucumber) didn’t like the smell at all, but that is a personal choice with all scented items. We kept this in the kitchen, as I felt that this would be the place it was used most frequently. We used this couple of times each day. The design was good and it was very easy to use however I found I had to clear a lot of space around it as anything left close to it would put it in slight shade and the light activated sensor would go off, meaning I would have to clean up a lot of spilled soap! Personally I feel this is expensive for what it is, and the refills were expensive too. I’ll use it until the current bottle runs out, but would not be an item I would personally choose to purchase. I think this would be extremely helpful to those with dexterity problems. A family member who suffers from arthritis in their hands visited & said that it was really nice to be able to use a soap pump with no difficulty at all. It was also good to help my son wash his hands. Nice smell, moisturising properties and the fact that the concept is good for those people who cannot use a normal soap pump.
