Dobble Minions Reviews

Product Tested By Katie Loneragan – Jack & Harr 10 & 6 Years

Katie Awarded The Dobble Minions 5/5

On arrival, my first impression of the game was that it was a small and tidy way to store a game. It was instantly recognisable as Minions and we couldn’t wait to play! I think the concept of Dobble Minions is excellent-it’s a true family game that can be enjoyed across a huge range of ages. The design means it’s easy and fun to play. The instruction booklet gets 5/5 as it is great to use. It is written in a short and concise way that is clear and very easy to follow. There was no confusion about the rules so everyone knew how to play! The instructions for each game are laid out on a double page which is helpful and has clear diagrams to aide understanding. My children have given this game a 5/5. They could play each game easily and have often played it between themselves so doesn’t require an adults supervision. Jack and Harry both enjoyed looking for the matching images in order to win. Although a simple game in theory, the frustration of knowing the required image is somewhere on the card but not being able to see it is what brings the excitement! After a few games it had become clear that the children’s memory of the images had greatly improved and they became real contestants for the winners spot! This game was very competitive. The simpleness of the rules of play means that the children had just as much chance of winning as the adults and that in turn made us all more competitive. We have played this game between 2 players and up to 6 players. It was great fun with any number and each game worked well despite the numbers playing. We give Dobble Minions a firm 5/5 for entertainment. We have enjoyed it as a family and it has also kept the boys entertained between themselves. The game has instructions for 5 separate games and we played all of them a number of times. The boys favourite was ‘Hot Potato’ which often led to laughter and chaos! We have played this game at least once a week since we have had it, but once it’s out to play we usually play all of the games so it has been used a lot. We have played this game at home often while sat at the table, although when the boys play between themselves they play it while sat on the floor. Dobble Minions will definitely be a game we will take away with us as for a game which is so small and compact it creates a lot of fun. The cards are fully protected in its firm case and is very light. Jack and Harry both liked the images used on the cards. Although the icons are sited with their official names in the instruction booklet they have made up many of their own names which has become part of their entertainment. As a parent the best part of this game is that it’s extremely quick and easy to set up and start playing. Very little tidying away and it is essentially a 5-in-1 game yet takes up such little space. I would give the contents of this game 5/5 as the cards are well made and very colourful. As the game consists of just cards it is very quick to tidy away so gets a 5/5 for ease. The boys, and the rest of the family, have given the game a 5/5 for entertainment. I do feel this game is value for money based on the number of games you can play and the amount we have played it. The quality of this game is 5/5 . The cards are firm with excellent clear and colourful images. The storage box is strong and firm. After testing this game I would happily buy it. It is great fun and ideal for families with different ages to all enjoy together. I would recommend Dobble Minions to friends and family as I know it is a great quality game. I would also tell them ti check out the instruction booklet for the other games and give them a try! Overall I would give this game a full 5/5. There is nothing I can think of that would improve it as either a product or as a game-it’s is just great. Overall this is a great game for families. The games are easy to learn and play which allows most family members to join in. There’s also a number of games to play, all of which have been enjoyable. The games are short and snappy making it very competitive. Katie Loneragan – Jack & Harr 10 & 6 Years

This looked good quality and lots of fun.  Initially sounded complicated but instructions were clear. Lovely colourful designs.  The instructions outlined a variety of way to play the game. Even my 5 year old understood how to play and joined in.  Both my children enjoyed playing the matching game. I do believe it did help them improve memory skills. Both boys are very competitive and we’re very keen to win! We played this game with immediate and extended family. The children loved beating their grandparents! This did keep my children entertained, but my 5 year old only managed a couple of games before getting bored. We stuck with 2 different games as the children struggled a little to understand the other versions. We would play this game at least once a week.  Always played at home.  This is also ideal game to take on your travels and it came with us when we went away for a weekend. My children loved that the game was easy to understand and they were better than the grownups at it. I liked the fact easy to play and a short game. Contents of this game were excellent. Easy to pack away neatly as comes in its own handy tin.  I would say this was a game that kept my eldest son more entertained and played with it for longer. Given how many games you can play this is good value. Really good quality, cards don’t bend easily.  I would buy this and other versions available.  I would recommend for all the reasons above.  Entertaining for range of age groups. Short game so no long attention span required. This is a great fun family game. Donna Liddiard – Noah & Oliver 8 & 5 Years

It looked fun, we liked the tin with minions on it. The concept is very good, it’s easy to follow as we already have the original Dobble game. The instructions are easy to follow and we like that there are various ways to play the game. My son enjoyed trying each game. We struggled at first to remember what each of the characters were called but once we had played it a few times it became easier. He really enjoyed the matching game, he became very competitive which made for a fun exciting game. A lot of the time he was better than me at playing and matching the items. This game is very competitive with a fun twist, I feel it was age appropriate whilst still being challenging for everyone. We played with 2,3 & 4 players of all ages we all had fun and enjoyed playing it together. It kept him entertained for a good length of time, each match was not too long so he didn’t get bored, it was a fast paced game. We tried all 5 ways to play he enjoyed Triplet the most as he found it a bit easier. We played a lot over  Christmas and the new year. We played it at home, I think it would be great for holidays or when travelling as it’s small and light weight to transport about. This game is ideal to take out and about as you don’t need much room to play it and it’s easy to pop in a bag without weighing a lot. My son enjoyed the competitive side of the game the most.  I thought the game was a great way to bring us together to spend time as a family. The cards are hard wearing and not too flimsy, the game is colourful and eye catching. It was very quick and  easy to pack away once we had finished playing it. This kept my son entertained and he was excited to play the game each time. I think it compares to other games in price, I don’t mind paying for games as we tend to keep them for years. The game is good quality it’s colourful and we liked the drawings on the cards and tin. I would buy this as it is the kind of game my son likes to play.  I have also already recommended to friends and family. We enjoyed the game it was great for all ages and keeps the brain active. The game is great quality it’s hardy and will take a lot of play, we liked the drawings on the cards and the tin as they were colourful and bright. The concept is easy for all ages to understand and follow we enjoyed playing the game as a family and I’m pretty sure it will be a family favourite. Sarah Palfreeman – Logan 8 Years
