Dreambaby POUCH PAL® Reviews

Nicole Awarded The Dreambaby Pouch Pal 4/5

The packaging was minimal, the pouch pal seemed very good quality although it appeared quite plain – though of course this would not affect use at all and is likely a thought out design to enable you to see what is inside in terms of pouches. The concept seemed great – it’s so easy for baby’s to squeeze pouches and make a mess so on initial view I thought this would be ideal to prevent that from happening. The instructions were clear and the concept for use was very simple. Adding the pouch to the pouch pal was simple once I’d managed to open it – it’s a little tricky but there has to be this level of difficulty to prevent children opening it – not impossible just need a knack! My son is 9 months old and it did appear quite large in comparison to him which made it a bit difficult for him to coordinate at first but once he got the hang of it, he was absolutely fine and no amount of dropping damaged/opened the pouch pal. Once I got the knack for opening this, it was very simple to insert the pouch into the pouch pal – I understand completely the concept for making it a little tricky otherwise children would simply open it but I did start to wonder if there was another design that would prevent opening. Once my son was over the initial hurdle of co ordinating holding this (it seemed quite large in comparison to him and naturally heavier than just a pouch) he was fine but I did have to continually open it to push the food up-to the top of the pouch. Initially my son did not find this easy to hold. It is quite bulky and takes some getting used to. Once he had coordinated using it, he did hold it with ease. It definitely prevented mess and waste, there’s no way for your toddler/baby to press on the pouch so no way for this to happen. I do agree this helps baby’s coordination of holding something and having to put it to their mouth, takes a bit of getting used to due to the size but eventually, once worked out, my little one could manage. The only part that he could not do was push the pouch up and given his age (9months) sucking isn’t quite there yet with a food pouch so I did have to help push any food up for him to get out of the bottom. I’d say the child-resistant latch is almost adult resistant! It was quite tricky to open for myself but that serves its purpose and ensures there are no accidents! We took the pouch pal out on days out, it was a good accessory to have, albeit another quite large item to carry in your bag. I will say although it takes up space, for an adult to carry, it is lightweight enough which is a bonus when your bag is full to the brim already! We used the pouch pal a few times a week whilst we were out – we carried it every day but there were only a few occasions a week where it was required. Whilst shopping mainly (keeps baby happy in the trolley/pushchair!). I did use it once in the car but found that my little one got quite frustrated when he couldn’t get the remnants out of the bottom and I was driving! It is a simple design so extremely easy to clean! I like the fact that I did not have to worry about spillages when giving my little one food in this.
Simple, effective design – baby has dropped it a few times onto hard floor and it’s stood the test of time with that too so overall I think this has top marks for quality! This is very good value, there’s not many accessories like this that you could pick up so cheap. I would buy this, although having to push the pouch up is slightly annoying, it’s worth it for the mess you save! I would recommend as I think anyone who’s on the go and doesn’t have time for mess but needs their baby to eat on the go would benefit from a pouch pal! Overall I’d give this product a 4/5, I think with perhaps an added accessory inside or on the outside that aids the rolling up of the pouch would be good. Other than that it is a great accessory to have for anyone on the go! Nicole Chapman – Louie 9 Months

I was unsure as to how it was meant to work! I thought it was a clever idea. The instructions weren’t overly clear as to how the child was meant to get the food out. It took my daughter a while to figure out how to use it. It was really easy to pen and insert food pouch. My daughter struggled initially as she didn’t know she had to suck. She could hold it well enough as it is a good shape but quite big. This certainly reduced waste and no mess apart rom a bit of dip out of her mouth. This did help her learn to self-feed as she could take control. This child-resistant latch was effective as she never managed to open it. It was ideal to take out and about as good to know she wouldn’t get her clothes messy when out and about. We used this about once each week. This was used in cafés where she would sometimes be in her pushchair. This was really easy to just rinse out. I liked how lightweight it was. The plastic very sturdy and not likely to crack. This is very good value. I would not buy this simply because I’m doing more baby led weaning than pouches so probably not but if she were having more pouches then yes. I would recommend if they were doing traditional pouches. I give this product 4/5 as it’s a bit big for small hands. Emma Taylor – Nori 7.5 Months

Looked good quality and durable when arrived. For travelling out with baby I thought this was a very good idea. Instructions were easy enough to follow. Alfie found this easy enough to hold and after a few attempts worked out how to suck the food out. Very easy to insert food pouch in this, no problems. I mainly used this when we went out as easy way to feed my son. As outlined after a few attempts he did find this easy to use and feed himself. The shape was good, a bit bulky for Alfie but OK. My son is really getting into feeding himself and this was ideal to give him control when out and about. The child-resistant latch was effective, even I found it difficult to open at times. I really used this when we went out for the day or visiting family or friends as could just insert food pouch and when he was hungry he could feed himself. Easy enough to clean. I liked it really was a portable feeding pouch for my son, very handy. Quality is very good. This is very good value as will last a while. Personally I would not buy this as more of a travel item so not a necessity for us. I would recommend as for younger babies it is a great way to help them get confidence to self-feed and ideal travel item for new parents. Worked well, and ideal to take on our travels.
