When this arrived it looked colourful and engaging. A mix of Brio and Lego. Very user friendly, they opened the box, found the instructions and began building without any adult support. My children found it easy to put together and take apart. This was a fabulous rainy afternoon project. This certainly developed their creative thinking. It was ideal for their interests and to build on them. Using the clear instructions they were able to work out issues for themselves. This couldn’t have been better, it captured so many of their interests and proved highly enjoyable. They have not created models in the booklet yet but they plan to. They are going to complete all of the staged models before freestyling. This has delivered hours of interactive fun. Built on the sitting room floor and then displayed on the window sill. They played alone and it transfixed them. Absolutely kept them entertained. They didn’t ask for their tablet once during the time they were playing with this. They liked that they oved. I liked the fact it challenged them whilst having fun. Perfect educational toy for Key Stage 2 and would be ideal in schools. Ideally suitable for my children. The quality is great. The only advice would be a lift off lid box as the tab one will get damaged over time. Great value as offers endless engagement. I would look at other Edx Education toys as they seem to understand children who are STEM minded. I have already recommended to others and will buy as a gift for friend’s children. I would recommend as ideal for children who want a project. A fantastic find, highly recommend to those with children who adore problem solving. Great to find a company who obviously understand children and STEM. They are well designed and we look forward to purchasing more in the future. Kris Barrett – Boo 7 Years

Both my children were excited when the set arrived. They were excited to be able to make moving models as they both enjoy building. The my gears animal set is great. It encourages children to be creative and follow instructions. The animals make it a little different from other sets and make it more fun. The instructions were easy to follow and clear. My 10 year old could build the models independently but my 7 year old need a little help here and there. Both children were able to build the animals. Some parts were a little fiddly and my 7 year old needed help to prevent him getting frustrated. However I do think it is important that children are challenged and if the pieces were simpler older children would not enjoy this set as much. Both children enjoyed building the animals. They loved the moving parts and this kept their attention and they were proud of their finished models. My children enjoyed building the models they were interested in how everything worked. It encouraged them to think about how things worked and learning through experience they were able to understand it better. This toy does encourage problem solving. You can follow the instructions to build set models but you can also experiment yourself. My children started with building the set models and then experimented themself. However they found building their own models tricky. This toy does help with engineering and science skills. I would not say that it particularly enhances maths skills, however building models and thinking about shape and space will long term help with math skills. My children worked together to build all the models over several sessions. They enjoyed building each one and seeing how it worked. They get creative and build their own models but they found it tricky but with practice their own models improved. My children have played with this 8-10 times. They have picked it up and created different animals and also created their own models. My children played in their room – this is the biggest amount of floor space and they found it comfortable to sit on the floor rather than at the table. As we have dogs they prefer to play in bedrooms. This was a good toy for both children to play with together. My older daughter who is 15 also enjoyed playing with them. Yes this toy did keep them busy however they did need some help and at times got a little frustrated but the more they played with it the more they enjoyed it. My children liked the moving parts the best. I like that it is educational and creative. I liked that my children enjoyed playing together to build the models. This is a good stem toy that teaches a range or problem solving and science skills. I feel that it would be best aimed at children in year 3/4 and above. Working with children I feel that younger children would struggle to be able to complete the models without a lot of adults support. My son is 7, he was able to build the models with help. So I would say 6+ is correct, but is more suitable for 8+ for independent play. This is a good quality toy that offers a lot of play and enjoyment. You get a lot for your money with this set. In comparison to other building sets that can be very expensive this offers lots of building fun and has endless play. I would look online at other Edx toys available. I have purchased other Edx education toys before. I think it is important to encourage children in stem toys and also encourage their creativity. I would buy this as I felt it was good value for money, and offers lots of play for a good age range. I would recommend as my children enjoyed it and I think it offers good value for money and creativity. This is a good product that offers lots of play and is educational. However it maybe lacks a slight wow factor as it is an educational toy. I think my children would prefer to build vehicles over animals. Overall this is a good product that offers lots of fun. It’s a bit different to other building toys and you get lots of bits in the set. Educational, fun and creative. Offers great value for money too. Sarah Cummins – Samuel & Annabelle – 7 & 10 Years

This looked interesting when it arrived and I was not aware of the Edx brand so we were all keen to try it out. Great idea to inspire creativity and building animals with moving parts. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Both my children has no issues using the parts in the set and putting everything together. They loved getting creative and making the animal models and really enjoyed the moving part aspect of this toy. This was a great stimulant for creative thinking and loved seeing their faces when they had made one of the animals and all worked well and moved with ease. Certainly brilliant to help them decipher problem solving skills. A great set that opened up a new world for them especially with the engineering aspect and being able to understand how parts needed to be fitted together in a certain way to move. They both created all the models in the instruction booklet. They have now started to design their own unique models and to see them concentrate and create has been a joy. This has been played with many times and it is a toy that will keep on giving fun and enjoyment for a long time. This was played with in their play room. They played with this together, and even mum and dad had a go and enjoyed the whole experience. Without a doubt kept both of them entertained for hours. They both loved the moving parts of this toy. I liked how it made them think and explore how things worked. This is a superb educational toy and would be ideal to see this in schools as it delivers so much. Not only can they create the models in the booklet, they can use their own newly found skills to create new models so this toy will keep children enthralled for hours. I think 6 years plus is a good age to start using this toy, but feel at 6 children would need parental help. But as said before this is a toy that will keep on giving. Superb quality. Great value considering quality and entertainment value. I had not heard of this company before, but have been checking products online and will be buying more from this company in the future. I would also buy this toy as a gift, and will be on my Christmas list for my nephews. I would highly recommend this toy as it is educational, fun and entertaining. This is a superb toy, well designed, durable and educational while delivering hours of entertainment. We loved it. Lillian Winter – Jack & Sophie – 7 & 9 Years
