Lovely looking sturdy book. Well bound, looks like it will withstand a lot of reading. The journal has a lovely hard cover which is nicely bound. It looks like
it will withstand a lot of use. My son was really impressed with the journal. He liked that there were lots of different pages and prompts for things to write/draw. The layout was really good. It enabled us to move between sections, coming back to different areas as it suited us. My son loved the fact that he could sit with his dad and ask lots of questions about his life, and compare what it was like growing up for the two of them. He has stuck ticket stubs and small pictures in it that are important to his as well. The prompts were clear and concise and helped order their thoughts. The journal was good as it was something that could be done over time, not something that had to be dealt with immediately. My husband enjoyed it as it brought forward lots of memories of his childhood that he hadn’t thought about for a while. Really loved the journal. We would like to get others to do with our own parents as we would like to pass these memories to our children. For a book that will,
hopefully, contain a lifetime of memories to be passed on I think this is very
good value for money. I would seriously think about getting a couple of these books to send to my parents in Australia so they can pass on their memories to my children. Really enjoyed using this journal. It facilitated a lot of conversation about growing up before computers and mobile phones, electric car windows and 24 hour cartoons on TV. I thought it looked like a really good idea and something that we could do together. It’s a really well made book with hard coverings. The pages inside are made from paper that the ink won’t smudge on which is important I think for something like this. Alyssa loved it when it arrived. She wanted to immediately get started with it. We liked how I had one side of a double page and Alyssa had the other. It made it easy for us to complete as we sat next to each other. I liked how there was a ribbon bookmark so you could keep track of how far you had got. Alyssa loved writing in the book but struggled at times as there were no lines on the pages so her writing often got muddled. She is a very competent writer too and even found this an issue. Some of the questions were fantastic and were things that really made us think. We particularly liked “The way we are…” pages as it asked us to think of the ways that we are the same and the ways that we are different. It has made us look at writing and doing more things together. It was good fun having a bit of quality time together. We both liked the journal but found some of the pages quite hard to complete. It will create a wonderful keepsake for the future though. Great value for money and would be a fantastic gift for mother’s day or straight to the child. Definitely look
to buying another in the series too. This is a lovely journal and most definitely recommend. Not a 5/5 as I feel there could be a few slight improvements with the questions. There could have been a few more tasks rather than just lots of writing as it soon became really monotonous. A productive way of spending quality time together. Emily Shepperson – Alyssa 7 Years

Eye catching modern design. The journal has nice quality paper and good
size. My son felt overwhelmed at first until he realised it could be broken down into small chunks and was fun and not homework. The design was good. It was clear which page belonged to who as these are replicated throughout. I would
have preferred contents page and page numbers to find topics easily. My son did enjoy writing in the journal although he still finds writing difficult so it required a lot of patience and small sessions to do it. The questions prompted discussions which were interesting and made is feel closer. This does stimulate my son and also gives us special time together. Nice quality, good concept, a way to reconnect during busy lives. I would have preferred price to be lower
around £10 mark. I will buy others for gifts and for my other child. I would
recommend as a lovely journal. A welcome opportunity to take time out to reflect on my life with my child and find out their experiences and what is important to them in return. Tania Watkins – Aiden 7 years
