Geomag Mechanics Challenge Goal Construction Set – 97pc

Geomag Challenge Line: fast and frantic games for up to 4 players.
Precision, timing and dexterity are the keys to winning!
Mechanics is the construction platform that combines the forces of magnetism with a world of mechanical constructions, to stimulate creativity, intervention and ingenuity.
In addition to the classic magnetic bars and steel balls, Mechanics adds mechanical elements to the buildings, expanding the game possibilities: some parts of the structures are able to rotate, triggering chain reactions generated by the attraction and repulsion of the magnets.
Geomag is an educational game, which stimulates and develops the imagination, creativity, logic, dexterity and also facilitates the understanding of complicated notions of physics, such as the creation of magnetic fields and the forces of attraction and repulsion.

Geomag has been recognized as “the best game to give” by the American Scientific magazine, which has conducted research on games that favor the development of children’s intelligence.

As soon as I saw this game I knew my child was going to love it. The product looks well-made and good quality and like it will last for some time. I thought the concept was great. I liked the idea of children being able to build something and then be able to play with it. Instructions clear and easy to follow. My daughter did find this easy to set up and play. My child did find it challenging and exciting. The game requires some skill to build the different elements and they enjoyed trying to figure out some of the more difficult challenges. As soon as they opened the box and started building they were instantly challenged and had to start thinking creatively how they would figure out the mechanical elements of the game. My child has always enjoyed playing with magnets and understanding how they work so they instantly loved this game. Understanding these elements will also help when doing school work as it’s all about physics. I thought this was a brilliant educational toy. I really like my child getting/receiving STEM toys as they’re able to learn as well as having fun doing it. This game in particular helps children understand physics in a fun way. I believe this does enhance STEM scientific learning. It improves children’s motor skills, creativity and they get to learn about physics in a really fun way. They have played this game a lot since receiving it and it keeps them entertained for hours. We built and played this game as a family and my child has played this since with friends. They showed all their friends how to play and they seemed to really enjoy it. This did keep us entertained and we have played as a family and my child has shown other families how to play it when visiting. This kept my children entertained for hours. As a family we enjoyed playing this altogether and has so much fun. I feel the age suitability is ideal. Being made of recyclable plastic is important to me. I like the idea of being able to recycle toys when the time comes. They love football and constructing things so this combined both of these things. I liked that it got my child away from playing computer games. They thoroughly enjoyed building and playing with this toy and they were excited to learn the different ways to use magnets and force. Very good value for money. I have actually bought it since for school birthday parties and the children seemed to really enjoy them. I would recommend this product. I have bought this toy for my nephew as he enjoys playing football and science. I feel like this a great toy that stimulates the child’s mind. I much prefer them playing with toys like this rather than iPad and Nintendo’s as they get to explore their creative side instead of sitting in front of a screen. Sian Roberts – Isla 9 Years

This looked good quality and interesting. I was pleased to see the instructions were easy to understand. We love building Lego and this seemed like a really good alternative. The instructions were easy to follow, but I didn’t quite get the difference in the top and bottom of the green circles until later and I needed to undo and rebuild once I figured it out. My son figured out how to play the games before I could read the instruction. My son found it a bit frustrating that he couldn’t quite get it right all the time, but this is a good lesson in itself. He didn’t let that stop him as he was keen to make up his own rules too. It’s a very clever concept to help children learn while having a bit of fun. What would be a nice addition is a little blurb for parents to be able to explain why/how things happen to help the learning process. Definitely stimulates creativity and imagination. My son initially built the game based on the instructions, but then wanted to build his own idea and test things out. This was played with daily for about a week, now it gets introduced to his play dates. This game has been played with his friends and family and enjoyed by all. This is a very entertaining game and can get quite competitive. Certainly kept my son entertained and I love the fact you need to build it first so you know how it works too. My son is 6 but he is very aware when it comes to the mechanics of something so he caught on quite quickly. I think there were some puzzled looks from a couple other similar aged and younger, so 7 seems just right to me. Good to know made of recycled plastic as important in this day and age. My son loved shooting the balls into the goal. I liked it was something we could build and play together. The only thing that let it down was the cardboard goal. This wasn’t secure enough in my opinion. Maybe some more recycled plastic that clicks and stays in place would work better. The rest seems really well made and then this bit of cardboard is quite random. I would consider buying this as a present for another child. I would recommend as we have enjoyed playing this. I thought this was a well-made product and easy instructions to follow. Colourful pictorial instructions so children can easily follow them. The magnetic cannon had us both baffled at first. It would be great to understand how it works so a parent can easily explain this to their children to reinforce the learning. The thought of a toy with several pieces usually makes me nervous, the fact that you can build this and still fit it all back in the box is a huge bonus. There’s no need to keep breaking it apart to store it away. My son struggles with the idea of breaking apart things that we have built so this makes packing away much easier here too, as he can see that it is all still together. The cardboard goal was the only downside to this in my opinion. We ended up building a small barrier around the table to make sure we didn’t lose the balls. Louise Lamb – James 6 Years

The item arrived in a box which wasn’t too bulky, which I liked. The contents didn’t look cheap and looked good quality game. I liked the concept and my daughter loves to build and adores Lego. The instructions were ok, my daughter didn’t use them too much to build things and rather watched a YouTube clip of how to get the best and build items. Perhaps because they were not easy to follow, I’m not sure, other children her age may follow them better. Eventually when she got the game set up and how it worked, with a little help we were all ready to go. My daughter loved the competitiveness of this game. I feel my daughter is not old enough yet to grasp mechanical construction, intervention and ingenuity. This will come with time. I believe she was able to expand the games by using different parts. She has a vivid imagination so was able to explore other options. Absolutely a great educational toy. As mentioned before if you have a child with an imagination it can help as an educational tool with reference to different topics. It would be useful in KS3 (but my child is KS2). It wasn’t a game she was automatically drawn to, I got it out 5 times. This was played with as a family and it got us talking and was an enjoyable game to play. I felt some of her friends may not have understood it. When playing as a family we all loved the competitive element of this game. This certainly kept my daughter entertained. I feel this might be more suited for 8 years plus, as there are some young 7 year olds in my daughters class who could not grasp this immediately. We look at helping the environment where possible, so good to know made of recycled plastic. My daughter enjoyed the competitive element and how she could be imaginative with what she built also. I liked that is was compact, easy to pack away and the fact we could look at ideas on YouTube. Personally I feel it is a bit expensive, if it was closer to £15 would get more sales. Perhaps I would buy this is saw it on offer. We liked the game, and my daughter enjoyed playing it but she was drawn more to Lego so I would have to suggest this game to play.
