My partner collected the Grow’n Up Climb ‘n’ Explore Play Gym from our local Smyths store. The box containing the play gym fitted into the boot of a large estate car. The picture on the front of the box represented the play gym well and when opened the parts were easy identifiable. It’s an ideal addition to the garden for toddlers with lots of activities. Easy for adults to move around, yet strong and stable enough for toddlers to hang off and climb on without toppling over. The Play Gym was easy to put together following the instructions. However, it may be easier to put the stickers on first before building the play gym as some of them are hidden underneath (at toddler level) when built. This is a really sturdy and durable piece of equipment, easy to put together and light enough for an adult to move around the garden. My daughter loved the crawl through space underneath the platform. She likes to put her head through the play spaces to play peekaboo. My daughter had lots of fun crawling, climbing and sliding. My daughter loved putting the little basketball through the hoop, with a little help. My only criticism was that the ball supplied was deflated, and a small pump is required to inflate it. My daughter is a little too young to use the number toss game feature, but I’m sure she will enjoy this in time. My daughter is too young to create words, but did point to and trace the letters with her finger. I am disappointed that the letter stickers have peeled off within a few weeks and will not stick back on. The slide was my daughters favourite part. She loved to climb up the steps independently and then hold the handles at the top of the slide before sliding down. My daughter was too young to utilise the climbing wall feature, but when she is a little bigger I’m sure it will be something she will enjoy. My daughters hand to eye coordination has improved with the activities on the play gym, and as she learns her alphabet I look forward to her pointing out and recognising the letters. I set the play gym up on the grass in the garden. My daughter used the play gym very day, even after nursery, and in the rain, it’s her favourite outdoor toy. I can’t comment on the play gym keeping other friends or siblings entertained as our daughter does not have any siblings and due to lockdown, our daughter has not had any play dates. The play gym was easy to wipe down and keep clean, even after all the torrential rain and being left out in the garden. My daughters favourite feature of the play gym was the slide. The thing I liked most about the play gym was the variety of features, which will keep my daughter entertained in her toddler years. I do believe the play gym is value for money as it is durable and sturdy, with lots of activities, however I think the slide is a little small for 3-4 year olds. A great purchase for toddlers. The play gym is sturdy and durable and not at all flimsy. Bright colours which hopefully will not fade being left out in the sun. I would buy this product, my daughter loves the climbing and sliding activities and as she grows up she will be able to engage with the alphabet and numbers to help her with early recognition. I would recommend this product to friends and family, it has given my daughter hours of fun in the garden. My overall experience with the play gym is very positive. It is a versatile product and my daughter is able to use her imagination when playing, hiding in the frame, playing peekaboo and her favourite part going down the slide. It is easy to build, solid and lots of fun! Mairi Mackenzie – Aisling 18 Months

Colourful, interesting, seems as though there is plenty to do on it. Perfect for my daughters age range and just what we were looking for to keep her entertained in the garden. Relatively well explained. The odd part didn’t seem to fit brilliantly but with some brute force it clicked in. Some pieces difficult to get to and fix together but otherwise it was ok and managed to do it on my own. The spaces are really quite small so my daughter doesn’t tend to crawl through them. My daughter really enjoys the slide and climbing onto the second tier. She loves playing with the ball and shooting hoops. She didn’t understand the  concept of the number toss game and definitely doesn’t add up scores. She does push the ball through the hoops but isn’t able to throw them through. I like the fact this is decorated with letters of the alphabet but I don’t think my daughter really noticed it and doesn’t really pay much attention to it. Although, I think it’s a good idea. My daughter loves the slide. Although it is only a small slide it is actually quite steep so she enjoys using it. My daughter isn’t very daring and gets scared easily so doesn’t tend to climb. However, her friends have been round to play and did enjoy the climbing wall. It did help her gross motor skills and coordination but not really the alphabet. But I do feel this will help in time. We had this set up in the garden. This would be used at least 3 times each week. Her one year old friend tried it and loved climbing through it. And her older cousins who are 5 and  6 love it. This is sturdy, well-built and easy to keep clean.  We initially covered it but now we don’t bother and it is absolutely fine and still in good condition. My daughter loved the slide and the step to second tier. I love the fact it is colourful and plenty to do. Absolutely great value for money as will be ideal from 18 Months – 4 years.  We coincidently were looking for an outdoor play activity and they were really quite expensive or very small. Very good quality. Sturdy and weather proof. I would buy this as good value for money and suitable for a wide age range. I would recommend this as a lot of thought has gone into design and lots of activities to do. Not just a slide. Best on the market for the price. Good price. Keeps all ages entertained. This is value for money, withstands weather well.  Bright and alphabet search is a brilliant idea.  Lots of activities in one unit. Sturdy and good quality and comes with ball required for hoop.  Laura Waterworth – Grace 2 Years

I thought it looked great. Sturdy. Good size and quality. For my little boy it was perfect as he loves climbing and felt it was a safe enough height for him. Plus he loves a slide and the steps make this perfect for him to access. Instructions very easy to follow and each section was marked with number or letter. Some of the bits were fiddly to slot in but it did go together well. I wouldn’t say my son uses the crawl through places as much as the climbing and slide. I wasn’t able to use the ball straight away which I found frustrating. There was enough room in the box for the ball to have been blown up but it was flat and required a particular pump which I didn’t have ready available. My son used a separate ball in the hoop. But I wouldn’t say there were LOTS of games. We did not try the number toss game as it was not apparent that this is what it was for. Being decorated with letters of the alphabet will be used eventually. I liked this aspect of the toy and encourages learning. My son absolutely loved the slide and certainly favourite part for my toddler. He has not quite gauged this yet but more than certain he will do as he grows a little more. I would not say presently this has helped him with motor skills and coordination. ‘we had this set up indoors and in the garden.  It did get more use in the garden. This was used daily. My son loved playing in this with friend. My friends little girl also loved it and wouldn’t get off it. She is 20 months. This is sturdy, easy to store and very easy to clean.  Also not too heavy to be able to move it easily when required. My son loved the stairs and the slide. I liked the colour.  The material was great and the stickers were a nice touch. I think this is good value and personally feel it would be ideal to keep using up to about 3 years. Good quality and durable. I think this will easily last for at least another year and a half for our son to enjoy. I would recommend at this was a nice size and attractive.  This is a little more than I would pay for something like this but my son loved it. Really lovely durable product which we have thoroughly enjoyed testing. Would recommend to friends but outline the price and if was on offer would be ideal. Rachel Caesar – Chester 18 Months
