Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag

Swaddling made easy! This unique product swaddles baby and is similar to a baby sleeping bag. The Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag simulates the womb so baby can move their arms and legs – which is beneficial for their development and should make it easier to transition from swaddling to a Joey Swag sleeping bag. The Joey Pouch isn’t intended to be a straight jacket! The Joey Pouch allows baby to move their arms and legs which is beneficial for their health and development. The Joey Pouch allows baby to sleep in their natural sleep position with their arms up helping them to self-soothe and settle back to sleep. The Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag prevents baby’s startle reflex and also prevents bub scratching their face. Designed specifically for newborn babies. Made from a beautiful light-weight 100% knitted cotton waffle fabric and can be used all year round (refer to Temperature Guide).Machine washable.  Please ensure your Joey Pouch is zipped before washing.Safe Sleep!  Research suggests that swaddled babies sleep better and that swaddling a baby in the first few months of baby’s life may help baby remain on their back which reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).  The Joey Pouch should not be used once baby is able to roll from their back to their tummy. Bubbaroo supports SIDS safe sleeping recommendations and is committed to communicating the message on how to reduce the risk of SIDS.

I thought this looked very good when I first saw it. The Swaddle Bag was packed very nicely in a box. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand. I found it very easy to wrap this around my baby; the material is stretchy so makes it easy to wrap around the baby. My baby was happy a majority of the time, the only problem is Florence sometimes sucks her thumb and she is unable to do it when using the Joey Pouch. It defiantly helped Florence to stay asleep as it stops that startle reflex that suddenly wakes them, so it’s brilliant for that. The size is great; plenty of room to grow as the material is stretchy there is plenty of give in it. This Swaddle Bag is very easy to wash and dry too and keeps its shape well.  The product is off very good quality, looks good and is well presented and packaged. It definitely offers excellent value for money; just as good value as a sleeping bag but with the added extra of keeping baby nice and snug. The only thing I would have maybe liked is a warmer tog as I was worried that Florence wasn’t warm enough, although you could put a little blanket over them. I would definitely consider buying this now. I have already recommended it to a friend that had a new-born baby that was waking himself at night. I personally think this is a fantastic product. It’s a great blanket and a happy baby that stayed asleep for that little longer. Kim Gallagher – Florence 11 Weeks

When this first arrived I thought it was very nice quality material and an interesting alternative to swaddle cloths. The packaging was simple and the instructions were simple and easy to understand and follow. Although easy to put on we needed more poppers around the neck as it was tight on my baby. To be honest she didn’t enjoy being in it but I don’t think this was due to the product more her personal preference as she didn’t enjoy not being able to suck on her hand which is her natural comfort reflex, which helps her sleep better. Length wise, the size is ok however around the neck there is only one popper so you cannot adjust this to suit your child and their neck size. This was tight on Nyah at 2 months so would not last very long at all. I had no problems with washing it and it did dry quite quickly.  It’s made from good quality material, soft and washes well with no bobbles etc. The price is quite expensive although is comparable with similar products. The only improvement is I think there needs to be different poppers around the neck closing so this can be adjusted to babies with a wider neck. I don’t think I would purchase this again as it didn’t suit my baby as she didn’t enjoy being swaddled and enclosed but I would recommend it to others if they had a baby that slept well when swaddled. Unfortunately it wasn’t right for my child but it was of good quality and I can see it would work for others. It’s a nice idea but could be improved fit wise and is only useful if your baby is happy to be swaddled. GeorginaBowers – Nyah 2 Months

I loved the colour of the Joey Pouch as soon as I saw it and the waffle material. I did feel the price was a little expensive though. The packaging was good and showed clearly what the product was like. The instructions were very easy and simple enough to follow. It is easy to use if your baby is still but if they are a wriggler then can be tricky! Luckily the fabric stretches which makes it slightly easier to get baby in whilst they are moving.  As my baby was a few weeks old when I started using this item she had got used to not being swaddled.  She struggled for a few nights trying to get out but settled down after a few nights. My midwife advised me on one of her visits not to swaddle my baby but I used this item knowing that swaddled babies sleep better. I did feel that my daughter slept better although she was looser in this than if I had swaddled with a blanket so her arms moved more which kept her awake a bit longer.  My daughter didn’t reach the bottom of the bag and there is loads of room for her legs to grow. It is very easy to launder, went in with normal washing. The quality is excellent; I loved the waffle fabric and it felt very well-made. I do feel though that the price is a little expensive. My daughter really doesn’t like the popper under her chin (Velcro could be used maybe?) and the zip is quite noisy so this stirred her when she was asleep so any improvements on this would make it loads better. I would recommend this product to others if I was asked for ideas to help their baby to sleep better. My daughter was swaddled using a blanket for a few days after birth, my midwife then advised not to swaddle but when I got this item I decided to swaddle her again.  The Joey Bag is looser than a blanket which was strange for my daughter but she soon got used to it.  She constantly tried to get her arms out and sometimes got frustrated she couldn’t. She did sleep much better when in the Joey Bag although the zip woke her up on occasions when I was undoing or doing back up. Tina Rowlands – Francesca 7 weeks
