I liked the retro style of the box and the illustrations on it. The cardboard that the box is made from has a soft, smooth feel to it which makes it really tactile. Willow was excited when she saw the animals on the box and was curious to open it to discover what was inside. She was delighted that she would be able to colour them in herself and make them into 3D models. It’s good that the set contains the pens as well as stickers as it means everything you need is included. The stylised illustrations of the animals on the printed sheets of card are appealing to this age group, and made colouring them in quite easy. The main pieces and the other elements, like tails, were easy for her little fingers to pop out without tearing. The small pens are just the right size for her to hold and use. It felt like everything in the kit had been thoughtfully considered to create a cohesive, fun set for little creatives to enjoy using. The pictorial instruction sheet meant Willow could understand what she had to do to colour and create the model animals without much further instruction from me. She likes working things out for herself and being able to follow the instructions herself made her feel quite accomplished. She found them easy to colour in as they come printed on flat sheets of card and have clear outlines and details so she knew where to colour. Although she loves drawing and colouring, she does still go outside the lines but as the animals are popped out afterwards, it doesn’t matter too much if she gets a little exuberant in her technique. The pens have quite fine nibs so allow for detailed work where needed. The ink colours are bright and appealing and she didn’t mind too much that they weren’t realistic colours for all the animals. The die cutting quality is good, meaning she was able to pop the shapes out quite easily. We liked that they are pre-scored where they are to be folded so she was able to form them herself, just needing a little help with the smaller tail pieces when inserting into the tab slits. Although the card isn’t particularly thick, it folds cleanly and each animal stands well. As an animal lover, this set really appealed to Willow. As she was colouring them in and making them into the 3D models she enjoyed telling me what she knew about the individual animals, like what they eat or the noises they make. There are 8 different animals included so she enjoyed making a couple at a time and has also gone back and added some different colours to her original creations. She was quite proud of her handiwork, and that she had made her own 3D animals from the flat sheets. As well as the fun of creating them, they encourage her to use her imagination to create her own safari scenes. As she completed each one, she displayed it on a shelf unit in the living room so that everyone could see them before moving them to a play mat in her bedroom which she says is now her animal kingdom. Having the pens and stickers included means Willow had everything she needed to be able to just open the box and start creating. This would be a great gift for a little one, knowing that they don’t need any other items to use it and can get started right away. The set allowed Willow to indulge in her love of colouring as well as her love of animals, and encouraged her to be creative both artistically and imaginatively. I like that after colouring in and creating the animals she entertains herself by making up stories involving the animals. She loved everything about this set, the mini pens, the animal shapes, the ability to make them into 3D models and creating her own safari scenes. I liked that this encouraged her creativity and was a considered, curated kit. It offers something different to screen time. This was appealing to my four year old. It encouraged her creativity and was fun to do. The quality of the items included was good. The card wasn’t particularly thick but was substantial enough to serve its purpose. The set is good value for money as it provided hours of fun and entertainment. I would buy this as Willow really enjoyed playing with it. I would recommend this to friends and family as it is a great set which encourages creativity and is a lot of fun. Everything is included for little ones to create their own little safari. The quality of the product is good. Willow was excited as soon as she opened this, and the product met our expectations. It was a fun activity to do and allowed her to create play creatively after she had coloured them in. Elaine Cowie – Willow 4 Years

Looked great. Nice design colourful and engaging. Instructions were easy to follow. My son found these easy to paint as they had a nice clear surface area to colour with the option to add stickers. I helped my son to fold the animals and make them as she was a little too young to do on er own. We had so much fun making these and then playing with them afterwards and made our own zoo. Now these are on show in the toy room. The contents of this set were good. However the pens felt a little flimsy and one of them had no nib so we could not use it. This was a lovely way for my son to get creative and certainly kept him entertained. He liked it once they were finished and could play with them. I liked the face I had to help him and we could make these together. My son is 3 years old and he did need help putting these together as found it a bit tricky trying to do it on his own. The quality of the set was good enough but the quality of the pens could be improved. For what this offers it is good value. I would buy a set from this company in other animals/styles. I would certainly recommend this set. We had so much fun colouring and making these animals. My little one could identify each animal and chose his own colours to make them his own. The pens supplied were not the best however we used our own to expand the colours. Putting them together was a little fiddly for little fingers but we made it a game and I helped to make them. Afterwards we made our own lite zoo and played with our creations. Nicola Kelly – Ellis 3 Years

My initial impression of the set was that box was sturdy, bright and colourful, clearly titled, with good illustrations of the safari animals. The design of the box was easy to open and revealed a craft set of 8 cardboard pop out animals, colouring pens and stickers to decorate the animals. The instructions were in picture format and were easy to follow, they explained how to colour the animals, put on the stickers and then pop out to build up the safari animal. My daughter found the animals easy to colour in using the pens provided. My daughter struggled to push out the animals without tearing the safari animals legs and required help, she also found it difficult to push the tail through the allotted slot in the cardboard, this was a little bit fiddly. My daughter enjoyed making the safari animals and putting on the stickers, even creating unique looking animals. She also liked playing with them and making the noises, such as a roar for the lion. Once my daughter coloured in and decorated the safari animals she put them on her little table in the kitchen, which is our family room. I thought the contents were of a good quality, although it would have been better if the coloured pens were washable. The stickers were also very small and my daughter found some of them difficult to take of the sheet without help. My daughter really liked this set and opened it straight away. She sat quietly colouring in the animals. My daughter liked the different animals. I liked this craft set as this was an activity we can do together; my daughter coloured the animals and I helped her to put on the stickers and pop them out from the cardboard. I think this set should maybe be aimed at 4+. At 3+ most children are not great at colouring in using pens, and adding the stickers and popping out the animals was too fiddly for her. The craft set was of good quality; however, the pens could have been improved. I don’t think this product was good value for money, I think this is overpriced at £12.00. In essence it is 8 cardboard sheets with printed pop out animals, 6 small pens and some stickers. Although my daughter did like the product I think it was overpriced. I would recommend this as the craft set is engaging for young children and a good creative activity. Overall my daughter was excited to open the craft set as the animals on the box attracted her attention. She enjoyed colouring in the cardboard pop out safari animals and adding the stickers to decorate them. This is a great creative concept product, however as a parent I do feel that there is not much to the product for the price. It engaged my daughter for a time, and she has gone back to it over the following days, however I do feel there are similar products on the market at a lower price point.
