Maya & Robobo Book Reviews

Product Tested By Margaret Brennan – Kayden 7 Years

Margaret Awarded The Maya & Robobo Book 5/5

I felt the book look very interesting and inviting for a 7 year old who is learning to read. Kayden was intrigued when he saw there was a Robot in the story. I love the concept of this book. Kayden has autism and it was so interesting to read a book that discussed this. Maybe because Kayden loves Robots at the moment he was delighted with the story. I felt it was very suitable but also gave great tips on how to deal with stress too. When reading and discussing the story it was great to see how my children understood about emotions. The section on dealing with stress I found especially helpful. Building a bond with friendship it is something Kayden could relate too now he is in school and has friends. When you discuss how some people face challenges this story helps them to feel more confident when they have to face a certain situation. This book did help Kayden deal with emotions. When they think of how the Robot helped Maya to deal with her stressful situations it makes them realise they can get through it too. It is such a lovely gentle friendship between Maya and the Robot that makes this more believable for children. This book was entertaining for my son. The pictures were lovely and connect Kayden so much with the story. It was a discussion point that made the story so real to him. Very high quality illustrations. Very colourful and meaningful to the story. Kayden has read some of the book himself but he loved when his 13 year old sister Becky read it to him and his brother Paul. This is still on his bedside table and is still one of his favourites. Depending on the child I think  some 7 year old’s would manage it well. In Kayden’s case he did try and enjoyed reading some of it. Because it has a lot of writing he did benefit more when it was read to him. He still tries reading it himself but I feel he will enjoy it more when he is a little older. The storyline is very suitable for the suggested age group. Kayden’s favourite  part was when the Robot appeared to Maya. He loves robots! I loved the way it encourages the children to be more confident and to realise just how capable they can be themselves and not to stress.  It is a good size book for a child to hold while reading it. The paper and illustrations are excellent. This is a great book to help children to think and talk about their emotions. It has a brilliant heart-warming story and is very engaging for children between 7-12 years. This book is a very suitable present for any child between 7-12 years. It will be on my birthday and Christmas list to give as presents. I would recommend as it is heartwarming story that children will love. Top marks. It is top quality book with a very interesting story. I loved this book because it helps children to think about friendship, emotions when they could be afraid and how to face challenges. It inspires them to be more open and more confident in themselves. Margaret Brennan – Kayden 7 Years

I didn’t think the quality of the cover was as good as it could have been. My daughter did like the front cover and it did make her want to read the book. I think the concept was great and it really helps children deal with emotions. My daughter loved the story. We recently had a bereavement in the family and this book helped our daughter deal with her emotions. It did help her understand bond with a friendship and she started talking about her own friendships after we read the book. It made her feel like it was ok to talk about situations and things that bother her. This book has helped her express her emotions better and she had a better understanding of them. This book did keep her entertained as he loved robots so she absolutely loved this book. The illustrations were wonderful and really brought to life the story.  The illustrations were lovely and really well done and fitting for this book. We have read this book 3 times, she even took it into school to show her teacher and friends.  I think this book is suitable for 7-12 year old’s as they are starting to deal with feelings and it’s a great tool for them to use to help them deal with emotions. My Daughter liked the relationship between the characters. I liked that it gave us a reason to talk about my daughters feelings after a bereavement in the family. It made it easier to deal with those feelings. The quality is good but I think the paper could have been better quality. I do think the book is good value for money. I would buy this book.  I am actually going to buy one for my daughters school as they thought it was brilliant. I would recommend as I think it is a great book for helping kids open up about feelings. I would give this book a 5. It was excellent in dealing with emotions and relationships. We thoroughly enjoyed reading it.  We really loved this book and I will be recommending it to family/friends/school as I think it is a great tool to use when dealing with children with complex emotions. The book looked interesting and my daughter wanted to look at it as soon as she opened. She really liked the cover especially robobo she said he looked cute. I think the concept of the book is good it takes a look at emotions and feelings and shows how friendships develop. She loved the story as she liked how Maya made friends with robobo and overcame challenges and changes in her emotions and how to deal with everyday situations. This book does help deal with emotions and is really good at explaining why we feel like we do. She does understand the bonds of friendship she says her friends mostly make her feel very happy unless they fall out ,doesn’t take long for them to make up again though usually. She did say she would feel confident in the future after reading the book. She said it was good at explaining why she felt like she did at times and said it would help her deal with her feelings better. This book does help deal with stress and emotions I’m pretty sure as she gets older she will gain more techniques with the help of this book. The story did keep my daughter entertained she liked maya making friends with a robot and reading what they did. The illustrations are lovely. They  did bring the story to life as my daughter looked at them she knew how happy they were making friends with one another. The illustrations are very well drawn. We have read this book 3 times and she has looked at it alone with her younger sister. The age is suitable for 7-12 as it explains why we feel the emotions we do and how to deal with them better . Any younger and I think it would be a little difficult to explain the feelings and emotions expressed in the story. My Daughter liked Robobo and how he had been sent to make friends and to look at how us humans dealt with our emotions. I liked how it explained in detail how to express yourself and deal with everyday stresses that arise and how to deal with them effectively. The quality of this book is very good. The book is value for money. I think my children will get a lot of use from this story. It can be used by my younger child when she gets a little older too. I would consider buying as I think it’s great at explaining emotions etc. I would recommend to my family and friends as their children would benefit from reading the story too. I will give 4/5 all in all it’s a fab book and a lovely read .it’s nice to get a book that brings lots of questions with it of how to cope with everyday life and situations and what to do to make you feel better and deal with them. Overall we have had a really positive experience with this book and I thank you for letting us review . Hermione really enjoyed reading and learned a lot about how she feels at times and how to cope.  Hermonie & Jayne- 4 Years & 9 Years
