The book seemed good quality with great feeling paper and lovely
well-printed illustrations. The cover and title seemed interesting to my boys
straight away and they wanted us to read it immediately! When I started reading
it was clear that my first impressions were correct – the paper had a lovely
thick feel to it for a paperback, with lovely illustrations. The print looked
great – really capturing the bright illustrations. The illustration on the
cover was enticing and bright for my boys – they were excited to find out about
Mr Mustachio. They adore books anyway which I’m sure helped that, but the front
cover did seem appealing to them. The illustrations inside were just as bright
and appealing to the boys. My 3 year old in particular loved pointing at things
in the illustrations and discussing them with me. They both loved the story but
my 3 year old particularly enjoyed it – we ended up reading it 3 times in one
sitting the first time (and multiple times since!). My older son also enjoyed
it, but only the once (expected!). They found the story to be funny,
particularly the end. It was well written and flowed nicely, making it easy for
parents to read right from the first time. My 3 year old has since loved
finding things to use for a moustache just like the main character – it’s a new
source of hilarity for him! Sometimes his big brother plays along too. Initially
I found the story a bit odd, and wasn’t sure my boys would take to it – they
love all stories but only certain ones really stay with them for a time after
reading. This one seemed to do that, so I can only give this book full marks
for this! I find all Childrens’ books have a high RRP for me really, but that’s
because my children love books so much they have hundreds, and if I paid full
RRP on them all I’d be broke pretty quickly! We tend to buy them when they’re
on offer to get the best value for money. But in comparison to other books in
the same genre/market, yes it does offer value. It’s definitely a book my
children want to read again and again, so one I would consider buying. I would
also recommend the story to others, or buy it for them for gifts. It’s a
lovely, charming story that really grabbed the attention of my boys! Michelle Lyons – Xander, Logan – 6

Looked good
quality book when arrived. My kids loved the look, and were really
excited to read it. It’s really well illustrated and we enjoyed
following the moustache with their finger. They both really enjoyed this
book. They loved the story, and were
looking forward to the next page. We loved the counting in the book. We all thought this was a really good book. I
think the price is slightly too high, and would put me off it. I would purchase
this if I saw it on offer and I would recommend. Loved the book, don’t love the price. Good
book, which enables younger readers join in too. Hayley Kirby – Ryan & Jason – 6 & 4 years

The
book looks well-made and Seb was excited to read it. The illustrations were vibrant
and interesting. He started to lose interest as it didn’t really have a flowing
storyline. Story was OK. I would not say
this story was stimulating as my son started to lose interest and when I asked
shall we read it again he responded no. Maybe
a bit overpriced with an unknown title. I’m sure people would go for something else,
a story well known to the children maybe if it was priced at £3. I would not consider
buying this book. Would not recommend just on the basis Seb did not enjoy this
book. We were both really looking
forward to reading the book. It was quiet a hard read as it didn’t grab the
child straight away, it looks good and nice pictures but maybe if the words
flowed a bit more. The look of the book and pictures were great and the story
wasn’t too long. Donna Benjamin – Seb 5 Years
