Orchard Toys Dress Up Nelly Game

Dress Up Nelly in matching outfits in this fun, first colour matching game, perfect for younger players.

Use the friendly elephants to learn about colours as you dress them in their different outfits! Dress Up Nelly can be played as a fun and simple activity to introduce children to colours, by placing all the cards face up and matching or mis-matching their head, body and legs.

Dress Up Nelly can also be played as a game. Players take two elephant head cards and in-turn try to match the same-coloured clothing to one of their elephants. Players continue taking turns to pick up cards until they have completed both of their elephants with matching head, body and leg cards.

The winner is the first person to dress both of their Nellys! Want to keep playing? Try the longer game by matching all of Nellys outfits!

Good packaging, very colourful and eye catching. I think it is a fun way to choose how to dress characters. Instructions clear and easy to follow. My son found this very easy to play and enjoyed dressing up nelly in various outfits. This certainly helped him recognise his colours. He enjoyed all aspects of this game. He would play this on his own.  This was played with at least twice a week. It would keep him entertained for 20 minutes at a time. I do believe it did help him improve his observations skills. My son liked finding the right outfits for the right elephant head. I liked that it was fun and my son could use his imagination even if he didn’t match correctly. He used his creativity. The quality of this game is excellent. I feel the age suitability for this game is ideal. Very good value. I would buy this as it took me back to my childhood and it’s a creative game.  I would recommend for the same reasons.  Cannot fault his game, packaging great, easy instructions and overall fun.  We love the game and really happy with it and have not got anything negative to say about this game. When I first saw the Dress UP Nelly game I was very excited and intrigued to open the compact box for me and my daughter to play. I thought the concept of the game was very good for learning about colours and allowing my daughter to express her creativity in forming outfits. The instructions were extremely clear, precise and easy to understand. After explaining the game to my daughter, she picked up the concept very quickly and wanted to make as many outfits as possible. My daughter did find it easy to dress up Nelly with guidance, then she would find it fairly straight forward to match the different parts of the body to form outfit. Extremely helpful helping her to recognise colours. My daughter is very confident with her colours, so she was easily able to recognise and match the colours. My daughter was engaged with the colour matching game and seemed to enjoy the different elephant outfits to form. After 10 minutes she did get bored and less engaged. My child played with just myself and seemed to enjoy the game for a short period of time. I showed her what to do, and tried to engage her as long as possible by prompting her to match the colours and to dress nelly up. My daughter played this game around twice a week. She picks games up extremely quick and once she understood the game and had completed, did start messing about with the cards. It did keep her entertained for a short period of time as there was only so much colour matching and outfit creating she was engaged to do. I wouldn’t say it helped to improve her observation skills, but it did test her colour recognition and memory skills. My daughter really enjoyed getting to dress nelly up and being in control of that. She is a very creative personality, and I think she enjoyed getting to choose the outfits and match them correctly. I liked how compact it was, so it was easily transferrable if visiting grandparents’ house or if simply wanting to store with minimal space. It is colourful and has a different range of outfits for toddlers to choose and create. The quality of the game itself was very sturdy, great for little hands to hold and very clear. I would say it is definitely suited for this age group, maybe more 2-4 years however. My 3-year-old enjoyed it, but did get distracted after 10/15 minutes of play, as she is very advanced for her age. It is a fun way to introduce memory skills, colour recognition and matching for toddlers. I think for the price it is good value for money. I think it would be more suited at a £6 price mark, as I personally found it to be a short game where there was only so much play and learning that could be engaged. The quality of it is however very good for the price and should be long lasting. After testing this toy with my daughter, unfortunately I wouldn’t consider purchasing this, just at the simple reason that my daughter got bored fairly quickly and is just a bit too advanced for this card game. Although I wouldn’t consider purchasing for myself, I would definitely recommend to family and friends, as I’m confident it would be beneficial and engaging for other children, but to be introduced from 18 months +. I really liked the concept of this game and felt it was a good way to engage with a child to help develop their colour matching and creativity skills. I would have marked this 5/5 however I felt that this game was quite restricted once all colours were matched. Overall we had a really positive experience with this product, where my daughter successfully matched nelly up by colours and random outfits. As there were so many cards, I did have to assist with laying them all out and directing the colours and body piece to match it up with, however it was refreshing  to reduce screentime and encourage fun learning. Looked nice and inviting, my daughter looked excited for it. Good concept, my daughter really enjoyed the matching activity as well as the motor skills of lining them up. Instructions were clear, although the concept was so simple it didn’t need any. She found it straight forward. She struggled initially with which orientation the pieces should go but that was a fun part of the challenge. She struggled with the orientation of the pieces but enjoyed the challenge. We discussed colours a lot and discussed what other things could have been on the cards. My daughter did enjoy matching he same coloured clothing to the elephant head.  Although some of the outfits were hard for her to recognise, even when all the pieces were together. Just played by herself or with parents. Really engaged about 7-10times. Hasn’t opted to play again since but we will be trying her again soon and I think she will like it again. This game would keep her engaged for around 15minutes each time. She generally matched the colours which was good. My daughter enjoyed the discussion around the colours and lining up the pieces. I liked the discussions we could have, introducing her to different things like pirates and the motor skills of lining up the pieces. Excellent quality, looks like it will last a long time. Personally I don’t think she would engage as much at 4-5 years old. The game is good value for what it is. I would buy this as it was good fun and I think she will keep coming back to it. I would recommend as good quality, good discussions can be had, my daughter enjoyed it and she learned things at the same time. Good quality, good discussions can be had, my daughter enjoyed it and she learned things at the same time. Only reason it’s not 5/5 is that I think it will become too simple for her in the not too distant future. Andy Machin – Florence 2 Years 5 Months
