Peekaboo Moon Book Reviews

Inaaya Awarded The Peekaboo Moon Book 5/5

Azaan opened up the book straight away, Aairah was staring and touching trying to put in mouth as she does with most things. The sliders were easy to use as fingers placed nicely and could easily move them, obviously not Aairah as she is too young. Azaan loved the rhyming text and made him laugh.  Aairah was happy to be booking at herself in the mirror at the end. My son worked out the sliders pretty much straight away he would do them several times and was happily entertained with it. He spent about a week with the book his favourite for bed time. This did keep my son entertained.  Aairah was very engaged when reading the book and concentrated on the pages and movements she talked through it as well as touching the pages. The illustrations are bright and fun, draws your attention plus the kids loved it. I do think this is a good first aby book in the sense the baby engages well and loves looking at the pictures  and changes in the pictures not for babies in the sense of them moving the mechanisms. Both my children enjoyed the interactive aspect of this book.  My son enjoyed all aspects of it moving the mechanisms reading along  Aairah enjoyed looking and touching the book. This would be read during the day and at night for about 2 weeks. My daughter liked looking at the book and the mirror.  My son liked the book and enjoyed the interactive aspect of this book. I believe this book is entertaining and engaging for baby and 3 year olds. Even my 7 year old loved reading this book to her little sister. This is a good price I’d be happy to buy more books they are well made and good quality. High quality as sturdy, strong and durable. I would buy this as well worth it for the quality, entertainment  and also educational too. I would recommend for the same reasons. Brilliant book for all ages baby to engage and learn toddler to learn and have fun older kids to enjoy reading to younger siblings. It was fun to see the kids engage well together because of this book they enjoyed it so on different levels and were pleasantly surprised at the mirror ending  the quality is very good and overall result well-made and educational. Very good book all round. Inaaya Patel – Aairah & Azaan – 7 Months & 3 Years

It was a nice size board book as some can be quite small, nice bright big image on the front and a fun slider. She seemed interested and wanted to open it when I showed it to her, she was cautious at first as she could see it was new. Some sliders are easier than others for her but she is still quite young and the more we have read it the better she has got using them, I think an older child would have no issue straight away. They are a little stiff to begin with but that is to be expected with a new book. I’m not sure I could say she enjoyed the gently rhyming as she is not even 1 year old yet but I think an older child would, it was easy to read and she loved the mirror at the end and keeps skipping straight to the end to see it. If we do the sliders rather than her she knows something is about to change on the page and you can see the anticipation in her face and we get a smile when it does. Her favourite one is the last one. My daughter enjoyed reading this book and often reaches for it and goes straight to the last slider and the mirror at the end.  The illustrations were big, bright and clear. I  think there are better first baby books as the sliders are tricky for really little ones but as she has got used to them she can do them. However she did get enjoyment out of us doing the sliders and her watching so it can be enjoyed by a really little one. My daughter enjoyed this book and often reaches for it and tried to do the sliders by herself. she enjoys the last page the best. We would read this every couple of days a least, we have book time a couple of times a day and we got through lots so sometimes it was every day. My daughter liked the last big slide and the mirror (even though she has managed to pull it out of it pocket completely but she does have fun putting it back in and out as I’ve not had chance to fix it yet). I liked the different sliders as it challenges their fine motor skills and problem solving skills and gives an element of fun and surprise. I think it will be enjoyed more by 10months/1year + as the sliders are a bit too difficult for much younger children, but they can enjoy watching you do them. I think its comparatively priced compared to other similar products out there. I think it is a good sturdy nice sized board book but the last largest slider could do with securing a bit more firmly as it did not take long for my daughter to pull it out of its pocket entirely. I would buy this as I think it’s a fun book with lots to offer in terms of interaction, problem solving, gentle story and surprise ending. I would recommend for the same reason. I think the last slider needs securing more firmly and the age lifting slightly but it is a nice product and we will get many more reading sessions out of it and my daughter does enjoy it. This is a nice sized board book (some are a little small), its interactive, challenges problem solving and develops fine motor skills, has a gentle story and a fun ending with a mirror. The varied sliders keep you guessing and it’s a fun book to read together and for an older child to play with alone. Sarah Goodwill-Hall – Anabelle 11.5 Months

This looked good quality and sturdy. My daughter was instantly interested in the book and wanted to open it straight away. The sliders were easy to use, it  was just the last page with the mirror that is a little sticky. Margot loves books and ones she can interact with. The mirror is great way to end the book following the bedtime routine. Margot was able to use all of these features bar the last one with the mirror, a little tricky so grasp the tab to pull and rather stiff. It did keep her entertained, however I feel there would have been a little more content/story behind it. Very clean drawings, minimal almost. I wouldn’t say suitable for first baby book due to the interaction but definitely from 12 months upwards when they can full embrace the pop- up elements. Margot has enjoyed the book but I feel it could offer a little more. We read this book regularly. Maybe every other week or so it makes an appearance. She likes the moon so it ties in quite nicely. My daughters favourite part was the mirror at the end.  Being able to do the tabs herself. I liked that it is not long story so perfect as a story before bed. For this book I would say 2 years is the upper limit. I’d say £7.99 seems rather expensive. Whilst it is well made, it’s a very short book so think £5.99 seems a little more suitable. I could not fault the quality as robust, clean and heavy. I don’t think I would have bought this if I saw it in the shops, whilst the pulls are good the illustrations aren’t visual enough, there’s not enough going on but then I suppose that’s when it would suit a younger child. I would not recommend as I feel like there are better books out there for that age range. Good  book that children can interact with. The length is good for a bedtime story but there’s not much going on throughout. Ideal for a child who is a little younger. The last pull which is meant to be the surprise is actually the hardest one for them to do on their own. It arrived packaged extremely well. I first noted the quality of the book, thick pages which makes it easier for them to turn the page. Margot enjoyed reading the book as it shows the various stages of bedtime and she enjoys looking for the moon so worked very well. I wonder if I’d be more inclined if there was a small series of books – getting ready for the day etc. Haylee May – Margot 20 Months
