Sick City Club CD Reviews

Product Tested By Kerry Brook – James, Caleb & Molly Ages 13, 9 & 1 Years

Kerry Awarded the Sick City Club CD 4/5

When I first got the CD I was quite excited. I was looking forward to hearing something new; it’s always exciting to hear new music. The songs were appropriate for my family. However there was a word that we thought sounded a bit like something that wouldn’t be appropriate at all (when we were listening to it as a family). Unfortunately we’ve been unable to locate the word a second time: perhaps itwas our overactive imaginations. My 1 year old loved to bop along. Maybe a note of caution is that the subjects covered in the songs may not be to everyone’s taste for family listening: some quite adult themes. It was great for this purpose as the kids enjoyed it and the adults found it to be easy to listen to without being too repetitive : it’s not annoying pop.  The lead singer has a very interesting voice:I liked it a lot. My 13 year old son liked this most out of our family. I think it probably best suits his age group; it sounds a little like the slightly older brothers of busted and may appeal to fans of theirs who are now a few years older. The content of the songs is possibly best suited to this age group because of some of the topics covered. This was good music for listening to at home or on the move but not the sort of thing that any of us would go out of our way to hear. I think £14.99 is a bit steep for an album that may be because I no longer buy albums, I just buy individual tracks. Overall, a good CD with a mix of pop, indie and twist of rocky punk, Interesting "safe” listening for young teens. Kerry Brook – James, Caleb & Molly Ages 13, 9 & 1 Years

This looks like the sort of band we would be interested in listening to.The songs were good to listen to for all members ofthe family; it was mainly played in the bedrooms. We all listened to the CD a nequal amount of time between us because we all prefer to listen to music at home rather than going to gigs and shows. The music on this cd is a lot better than most of the bands in the charts at the moment. If I didn’t already have the CD then I would probably want to buy it as it’s not extremely overpriced. Overall, we enjoyed listening to the songs on the CD and it was good to hear a new band. Elizabeth Kerr – Jovi 14 Years

Product Tested By Annett Brooks – June & Harry Ages 12 & 13 Years

I had never heard of these before and neither had my children so we were looking forward to hearing something new. They love playing music in their bedrooms and in the games room, so this got listened to quite a lot. I thought the music and lyrics was appropriate for their age and they seemed to really enjoy it. There’s a lot of music on the CD so it plays for quite a while, I think this makes it good value. I’m glad that Harry is listening to something appropriate too; it’s something for all the family! A mix of indie, pop & rock. Annett Brooks – June & Harry Ages 12 & 13 Years
