At first it seemed a
little daunting when I browsed over it, but reading through the first paragraph
changed that quickly, the knowledge and pointers that I have gained have helped
me and my family so much. The quality of
this book is excellent. The look of the
book is Simple and to the point. My son suffers
from staying asleep, waking too early and getting to sleep. I took all the advice into consideration and
made changes to routine, changing things in his bed and bedroom and bedtime. I
am still in the process of carrying out all these changes to his routine. I did
notice a complete difference; my son is now happy and bed time and actually
happy waking up and at reasonable hour.
I have not seen any other similar books. I enjoyed reading this book as it
made me feel at ease with what I and my son are going through and it helped a
lot. This book is an excellent reference guide, I have had so many concerns and
"why me" going through my head. It has taught me a lot. The index was
invaluable for when I was I had read the book and needed a quick reference I
also like the resources page just seeing where else I could get help. This book is amazing. Definitely great value
and I would even pay more knowing how much it has helped. I would certainly buy
this book and highly recommend. It has
been an invaluable source of information, help and advice and has helped me so
much. Sarah

Awarded The Sleep and Your Special Needs Child Book 4.4/5
The cover looks nice and basic, not very eye
catching but it’s not busy and looks quite calming. It’s not a thick book so
doesn’t take a while to read. It’s quite a good book that has loads of help
with routines and helping to settle a child. Written really well and very easy
to read and understand. The cover isn’t eye catching but it is quite calming
and soothing. My
son struggles getting to sleep then wakes between 3am-5am in the morning. I
tried firstly making a chart of his sleeping patterns and going from there. I
cleared his space and made it quite therapeutic ready for night. The book had
loads of valuable advice. The methods I
tried I carried out for 1 month. There
was a massive improvement; he sleeps until 6-7am now, instead of waking in the
middle of the night or early hours of morning. I
haven’t seen any books that are similar, so this is the only one I am aware
of. I related to a lot of the situations
and felt like it wasn’t just me what was suffering with lack of sleep due to a
child. I ended up with more questions afterwards, but it did explain a few
things for me. I liked relating to situations I am going through myself, felt
very familiar and made me feel comforted to know others have the same issues as
me. It’s really good, I feel there could have been more to the book, but as far
as it goes, it was a really good book and the advice was great. Worth the money
of course! I would consider buying this book.
I have recommended this book to a few of my friends who are dealing with
similar issues, also my mother in law who works in a Childrens hospice; this
would be perfect for them. Great book. Very easy to read, self-explanatory and makes
you feel like you are not alone. Great to know others go through same or
similar situations and there are steps to help. It’s easy to flick to certain points for a
refresher and makes you feel like there is hope, like a light at the end of the
tunnel. The look is easy to hold and also light so it’s comfortable to read. Samantha Bresenham –

Was pleased to receive this to review as my
daughter is mentally handicapped and has the mental age of a 2 year old and we
have major issues with sleeping. The
booked looked stylish and was eager to see if it could help us. This book is full of help and advice for
routines and also lots of help on how to settle a child. I found this book very easy to read. My daughter has trouble sleeping and always a
battle to get her to bed at night and she continually wakes up during the
night. We have had many, many sleepless
nights. We followed the guide lines on
what happened during the night, re-organising room, ways to calm her down and
making her bedroom more comfortable and more inviting to go to sleep. I have been trying a selection of methods and
some we are still using. This has made a
major change and now she sleeps more calmly.
We still have a few issues with her waking up in the middle of the
night, but nothing compared to how it was before we started to use some of the
methods in this book. I really liked the
way this book is laid out and the way it is written as it makes you realise you
are not the only one going through this and others suffer with the same
issues. Just nice to know we are not
alone and help was at hand. This book is
well worth reading if you have sleep issues.
It is certainly worth the money.
I would purchase this book and have recommended too many of my
friends. Makes you feel human again when
you get your child into a reasonable sleep routine. A great book, full of very good advice and
has changed our lives. Gillian Sanderson – Emily
