SleepSpace Lightweight Travel Cot with Tepee Reviews

Laura Awarded The SleepSpace Travel Cot 5/5

It seemed a high quality product from the off as we were pleased to see it came with a really nice carry case.  This is much more substantial than the cases that we’ve had with other travel cots we’ve used.  We received the red design and were delighted to get the circus tent style tepee cover- this piqued the interest of our 2 year old son who was helping us open up the product. It’s unusual compared to other travel cots we’ve used, which have had just a basic vertical sides. With this design, the sides taper towards a central point with the 4 corner bars going from the floor and meeting in the centre, high above the top of the travel cot.  It’s quirky and fun and reminds me of tents and camping.  Adding the tepee cover transforms the outward appearance, making it more of a toy/play item, rather than a travel cot. The setup of the item was very intuitive so we had it set up before reading these.  We had a look over to check we hadn’t missed anything in the set up and the instructions were clear and written simply.  There are also washing instructions which will come in handy later once it needs a clean. We had this set up in less than 5 minutes and didn’t really need any instructions. There are 2 ways to place a baby in the travel cot.  You can lean over the sides at the top, as per any other cot, or you can use the zipped side panel (the crawl entrance for toddlers).  As I am recovering from a c section, I would struggle to do the bending required to get Eva Christina over the side of the cot and then bend low enough to place her on the mattress, so would struggle to use a traditional travel cot at the moment.   As this cot has a zipped side panel, I was able to use this to get her in and out, which was much easier and less of a strain for me.  She seemed comfortable in there (she stayed asleep the first time we put her in!) and I felt she was safe. This is surprisingly good for a travel cot.  We have previously purchased an extra travel cot mattress as the ones we already own have come with hard and uncomfortable mattresses.  However, you could easily get away without an extra mattress with the BabyHub Sleepspace travel cot, which would save us space in the car boot for future trips. We have kept it set up since it arrived and it’s been used every day by both children. We have moved it between the kitchen and back garden, depending on where we’re spending our time.   Joseph has enjoyed using it as a play tent and I’ve used it as a place for Eva Christina to rest when we’ve been in the garden or when I’m cooking in the kitchen and want to keep her close by. We just used  at home so far, in the kitchen and garden. We haven’t had a chance to travel yet but it’s light and therefore easy to move between the house and garden.  As above, the good quality travel case and the fact you don’t need an extra mattress make this very transportable. We love the carry bag and the fact that it doesn’t need an extra mattress.  We also think this item looks equally suited to being outdoors (as above, it’s reminiscent of our camping equipment!) as indoors so would be great on a holiday involving setting up somewhere for the day (e.g. the beach or a park).  It doubles up as a sleepspace and a play/rest space. It was good  in that it enabled us to take Eva Christina into the garden.  I have been able to move her around with us depending on what we’re doing so she will be able to hear/ see us and know that we’re close. It seems very sturdy when set up so I have no safety concerns.  Joseph has been really enjoying playing in it and can independently get in and out using the zipped side panel. We have loved having it in tepee mode! Joseph has found it really fun to ‘hide’ in there and likes going into the tepee to get ‘cosy’ (his words!). Love having the mosquito net especially as we often have wasps in the garden. We have used this every day. Using as a playpen in the kitchen and the garden.  Joseph loves going in his circus tent and taking things in there e.g. he goes in to eat his snack or play with a toy. We haven’t had any messy incidents so far so I’m not sure how easy it is to clean yet.  However, based on the type of materials and the washing instructions, I imagine it will be easy to keep this nice and clean. I loved the multifunctionality.  We have got a newborn baby and a toddler and it’s probably the only baby item we’ve got that we can use for both of them. The quality is superb.  This seems a high quality item and is certainly a step up from our usual travel cots. I would buy this.  We have used this in our house every day since unboxing.  I can see it getting used lots in the garden over the summer. I would recommend due to the fact that it has several uses, you would get years of use out of this.  I like to take the baby with me to whatever room I’m in so love having this set up in the kitchen or garden so we can stay close to each other.  As they grow, it can then be used as a playpen and tepee so it has a great shelf life.  The item itself looks really fun and, as it’s nice quality and a cool and unusual design, I’m happy to have it out and set up in the house, without the need to pack it away. Although you could buy a cheaper travel cot, you would not get anywhere near the length of time out of it, as this is the only travel cot I’ve seen that has the ability to ‘grow’ with the baby and carry on being useful beyond its initial purpose.  Also, we have had to purchase an extra mattress for other travel cots which adds to the price.  The extra padded mat on the BabyHub Sleepspace would save you that extra cost.  I think this is great value for money when you tot up what it would cost to buy a travel cot, extra padded mattress and tepee separately. This has been perfect for us with a newborn and toddler.  It’s hard to think of another item that could be used for both of them.  We have this set up in the kitchen and it looks really funky.  Great design, both from a visual and functional perspective.  We have found ourselves using this a lot since we set it up and look forward to using it for travel in future. Very clear design, Love the tepee idea. Very clear instructions. Very easy to set up and use. This was very safe and comfortable. Slightly awkward with the design to get baby in and out compared to a normal travel cot, but still ok. The padded mat is very useful and comfortable. I have used this 8 times since it was delivered. Mainly used in the living room. Carry case would make it very easy to transport and store and eventually take on your travels. We plan to take it on holiday in June. Fingers Crossed. I’m not sure about this helping with essential bonding time with baby. Maybe whilst playing as a tepee but as a playpen or travel cot maybe not. This is very effective as a playpen. It is very safe and comfortable, especially with the padded mat. It would make an excellent tepee for the garden this summer, Rosie loved being in it as a tepee playing peekaboo behind the doors. I think the mosquito net is a very good added extra for the summer months. I also have a 4 year old who loved being in the tepee with her little sister. This is very easy to keep clean. I loved the design and that it can be used as a tepee. This is excellent quality. I would buy this as great addition as a playpen, Travel Cot and Tepee. I would recommend as ideal space saving travel cot with multiple features. Very easy to use, put up and take down. Great space saving Travel Cot and Excellent use as a tepee. The box was surprisingly heavy for a travel cot and the green colour wasn’t the bright primary colour green I was expecting it was more of a sludgy dull green which I didn’t expect for a child’s product. Once out of the box the cot isn’t overly heavy I think it was just the box it was delivered in that was heavy which I guess adds extra protection. Its very inventive and allows for multiple uses e.g. cot/play tepee. Instructions easy to follow and logical. The cot is easy to assemble and can be done without the instructions as its quite self-explanatory. My baby was comfortable and safe but it was a little awkward to lay her down far enough in because the zippable area is only small, not sure how this can be changed though. The padded mat provided a comfortable base for my baby. I used as travel cot daily as somewhere to put the baby down and use as a play mat, my baby doesn’t yet sleep anywhere other than being held during the day so never slept in the cot. Mainly used in the living room as somewhere to put the baby down and use as a play mat, my baby doesn’t yet sleep anywhere other than being held during the day so never slept in the cot. As in national lock down so unable to travel but I imagine the bag would be helpful. I would take this on holiday within the UK as a travel cot but would prefer the tepee part at the top to fold down so it is a more compact to fit into smaller spaces. We spent time with the baby in the cot as a play mat and found it a fun place to bond with her, I think we will get even more use out of it in the summer outside and as she gets older using it as a tepee/play pen. Using as a playpen was our main use as our baby does not yet sleep unless being held during the day! I am looking forward to using it as a tepee outside in the summer and think my nephew will also enjoy playing in it too. The mosquito  net fitted well and gave me confidence to use in the summer outdoors to provide good protection.  We used daily as playpen. Mostly used in living room. When the baby was sick it was really easy to wipe up from the mat on the floor. I loved the versatility/multiuse and that fact that it can grow with my child. Good quality. Personally I would not buy this purely because of the cost, even though I like the fact that it’s one product with multiuse, I could buy a tepee and a travel cot separately much cheaper with similar quality that I would be happy with. I would recommend and I would advise of the multiuse and that its been useful but make aware of the high price. Great idea, quite expensive, a little awkward to put  a baby down in, great outdoors, great that it grows with your child and has multiple uses, colour could do with being brighter green. We enjoyed using this product, and look forward to using it in the summer, I just wish the tepee bit at the top was an add on rather than a permanent feature to make it more compact.
