Splash Jacks Pool/Teether Toys Reviews

Lyndsey Awarded The Splash Jacks Pool/Teether Toy 5/5

The product looked as described. Nice bright primary colours and clear packaging. I think the concept is good. The idea of a toy that is multipurpose is always a good start. We did not use them in the swimming pool but they play a regular part of bath time and have been a feature in the paddling pool. Both children have liked them for different reasons. My son loves them as a teething toy and my daughter loves the sensory element of the spikes, she loves throwing them and watching them bob to the surface and that they bounce. One great feature for use in the bath/pool is that they have no holes so can’t get mouldy on the inside! This is a fantastic feature! Truthfully, using as a teether has been the main purpose we have used the toy for. My son loves them. He spends long periods just moving them around in his hands and chewing furiously. I would say this has been the more prominent use and, for me, would be the main focus for marketing this toy. (I would consider changing the name of the product to be more in line with promoting the teething aspect.) The shape is great. It encourages fine motor skills in both children and offers muscle tone development in my son who is younger. In terms of teething, our main use for the toy, the spikes could be a little longer, maybe 1-1.5cm as Reuben couldn’t quite get them into the very back corner of his mouth, much to his frustration at times. That way, he could chew where his very back teeth will be. We also could then put Dentinox on it which would add another helpful element for use as a teether.  It is incredibly important to me the product is safe from toxins, BPA, PVC and Phthalates. This was a key factor in how much I allowed my son to use them as a teether. It’s such a crucial safety point for parents and one that really appealed to us.  Also, because of my son’s eczema, it’s really vital to avoid irritants on his skin, these had no effect and he plays with them all the time. We used these every day! They come with us in the changing bag and are a constant source of fun and amusement. My son’s eczema means we have to keep his hands busy to avoid him scratching and the Splash Jacks have been amazing for that! As soon as he sees them he reaches for them and stops scratching! (Well, most of the time!).  We used as a teether multiple times each day.  The actual toy themselves were superb! Very well made, nice bright colours, easily cleaned and very interactive and tactile. I would say the packaging was a little crude. I would not pay £9.99 for this product. £6.99 would be the maximum. While they have been super and we have used them constantly since they arrived, it’s a lot for something which is essentially a teething toy and we can buy those much more cost effectively albeit these are great for the purpose.  I would also suggest selling them separately for a much lower cost, especially to corner the teething market. I love the tactile nature of the toy, that both my children have loved using them and that they are so versatile. I would buy these as we have not stopped using them since they arrived and they have been with us wherever we go, that’s the test of a good toy to me! I would recommend especially as a teething toy.  5/5 for sheer usability! A great product, we’ve had and will continue to have lots of fun with them. They are very versatile and are a superb teething toy! They have been fun at bath times and have helped prevent my son scratching his eczema. My daughter has loved bouncing them all over the house and playing with them in her paddling pool and they are amazingly easy to clean! (Very important!) They are a simple but stunningly effective toy that we will continue to use for a long time. Lyndsey Lauder – Reuben & Maddison – 7 Months & 2 Years 7 Months

Packaging was quite basic but product was nicely brightly coloured. Great concept really liked this product. My baby played with this in the bath but found it more useful for teething. This was a very effective teether. My daughter has used these every day. She is 4 months old and they are perfect size and shape for her. A lot of other teething toys she could not hold but these were perfect! The spikes were also perfect size for her mouth and not too long to make her gag. It is very important to me I use products that are safe from toxins, BPA, PVC and Phthalates. I will not use products for my child containing any of those. I used this every day for teething pain. This definitely appeared to ease the pain and she chewed it. No signs of any wear after frequent use, only hesitation would be that due to the fabric a lot of dust seemed to stick to it when it fell on ground. I believe in comparison to other teething toys this is reasonable priced considering it is a 3 pack. I love the size and shape perfect for teething! Will continue to use in future as a bath toy but my daughter is a little young yet. I would purchase this as it has been a brilliant teething toy and have used it over and above other more expensive teething toys which I purchased. I will recommend to my friends with teething babies as it has been hugely useful for us. Great product, only downside was a lot of dust stuck to the material if it fell on ground. Very pleased with this product and have used it every day replacing other more expensive teething toys I bought. Had to sterilise quite regularly due to dust sticking to it but this is to be expected with babies dropping toys. My daughter is too young to use in bath yet but I will try in future. Would definitely recommend to friends! Joanne Maguire – Daughter 4 Months

It’s ok, it’s simple but looks like it would suit a cheaper shop display. I feel if it was in a shop like Boots it would look cheap when in fact it’s not. Great concept and good idea. My daughter enjoyed playing with this in the pool although she just chewed it. We really mainly used this as a teether.  But we did use in the bath/pool and when out and about in the pram.  The shape is good and my daughter had no problem grasping these.  I do not know too much about BPA, PVC and Phthalates but the more natural material the better and I would consider the most natural product if faced with a few options. We bath every night as part of our routine so used them daily. I’ve tried the cool teethers, gloves etc., but this was her favourite as it was simple. We gave it her daily and could hear her squeaking away on the rubber. It is well made and could see no way in for mould. Good size and colour.  For 9.99 I’d like more choice of colours and shapes in the pack plus a loop for a clip as I’m funny about germs if it’s dropped on floor whilst out. I use dummy clips every day. I loved the bright colours and no hole for mould. I was using fish in the bath and noticed a smell of mould in them so they went straight in the bin. I would not buy this for £9.99 as it is a basic product. I would for £4.99. Unfortunately with places such as BNM and home bargains there are a lot cheaper products on offer.  I already have recommended on the basis of no mould and easy to grasp. This is a good design, bright colours, mould free but personally I feel a little too expensive for what it is.  As advised my little girl Willa enjoyed them but after they were thrown numerous times once out I kept them just for the bath. She enjoyed them and they float and she was able to kick them and chew and they are very resilient. Shelly Norris – Willa Iris 6 Months
