Teddy’s Adventure Reviews

Kristy Awarded The Teddy’s Adventure Book 4.4/5

A lovey book, well made and of good quality. A very simple cover and design with an old fashioned looking bear on a white background. Robyn has a similar looking bear on her shelves so she was very keen to read the story. We read through it two or three times until the penny dropped for her that the words rhymed. Its short enough to allow you to do that. Robyn did relate to the poem. Robyn has a favourite toy that goes everywhere with her and is often left lying around so she was emotionally quite involved when it was left outside in the rain! The characters featured in the illustrations we simple and effective and bought the tale to life. We read this at bedtime and was enjoyed. We have read it a good few times and was a firm choice when we went away for the weekend. The illustrations are very simple but I think that’s what adds to the rhythmic story telling. Teddy stands out in each page which is very effective. We have read this over 10 times. My daughter loved Teddy and him “steaming” by the fire getting dry. It reminded me of a book I had as a child, very simple but fun and a lesson in there too! It’s a lovely well put together book that you can tell when holding, is of quality material! This book is hardback and of high quality and 100% would pass down to other siblings. It’s not the cheapest book out there in comparison to others, however, it is a lovely story with good illustrations and offers a light relief to the “bog standard” run of the mill children’s bedtime storybooks. I would buy this as something different and a different type of language and storytelling format. I would recommend for the same reasons. A lovely book only drawback is the price. A lovely rhythmic story book that my daughter enjoyed and could relate too. Illustrations are simple yet effective. Thank you for allowing me to review. Kirsty Fulton – Robyn 3 Years

Looked a very high quality book and Alfie loved the picture of Teddy on the front. Alfie has a special Teddy so wanted us to read it to him straight away. He did enjoy the how the words rhymed and what happened to Teddy in the book. He is not yet old enough to read himself but this is a book you can keep for years and will go back to time and time again. He did relate to the poem about Teddy’s adventures as he linked it with his favourite Teddy at home so had an affinity with the book. The illustrations certainly helped Alfie relate to the story. This is a firm favourite for bedtime reading and has been read many times. The illustrations are effective and adds impact to the rhyming story. Alfie loved the pictures of Teddy. This has been read at night time regularly. Alfie related to Teddy and links the book now with his favourite Teddy so makes the whole experience magical for him. I liked the poem and how Alfie enjoyed this being read to him. The quality of this book is excellent. Being a hardback book it is one of those books that you can keep as will stand the test of time. This book has certainly made Alfie keep his Teddy close at all times and ensures he is safe and well looked after. I have just recently had another baby boy so this book will be kept to read to him and continue to be read and loved. This is a lovely book, well presented, good story and enjoyed, but I do feel the price is a bit high. I would definitely buy this as a gift for friends or family with young children as it is a book that can be treasured. I would recommend for the same reason. Great book, enjoyed by all just the price is a bit high. A book Alfie loves and will be continued to be read in our family by Alfie and his new little brother. The book is very good quality and the title and script inside are clear and easy to read. My children said the cover is too plain and not very inviting to want to read. They did enjoy the poem but it wasn’t their first choice to read again. They wanted to hear what happened to teddy at the end to make sure he was ok. They liked teddy and wanted to make sure he was found and safe. All my children have their ‘special’ teddy’s and so I think they could relate to what it would be like to misplace their teddy. They made comments that they like to play outside with their toys and that they have to be careful not to forget to bring things in. Also that it was lucky that the dad came home after they had gone in and found teddy. They did like it being read to them but they didn’t chose to have it read every night. I liked that the illustrations were quite basic and to the point. They told the story well without losing what the poem was about. Teddy being the main character is always in colour to hold the focus of the poem. My older 2 children and I read the book at least 3 times a week together. I would read it to my baby about 4 times a week along with other stories I read to her. They liked that teddy had an adventure but was found safe and sound that the end. They enjoyed looking at the illustrations as I read the poem, feeling sorry for poor teddy out on the cold rain and then always happy when teddy was drying by the fire, safe and found. They did think the pictures were a bit too basic for what they like to usually see in a story. I liked that it was a sweet poem clearly written with love to a grandchild who could relate to the meaning of the story. Most children I know have their special toy be it a teddy or something else and I feel it’s a nice little tale of a toy misplaced for a moment but never forgotten and always found. I really like the book. It’s a great size and great quality of both the outer cover and the pages within. My seven year old said yes but my older child said no. I can see how if the book had been written by a family member then yes it would hold its sentimental value so you would want to pass it on but as a poem to keep. My children said no. As much as the kids liked the book I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t pay £10.00 for it. It’s a lot of money for a story but I can appreciate that it would cost a lot to publish a book for such good quality. I personally would not buy this due to the price. I would recommend but I’m not sure what people would think to paying £10.00 for a children’s book. As much as we liked the poem, I wouldn’t pay £10.00 for the book and my children felt the illustrations were too Basic even though I quite liked them. It’s a nice little story and I can see how to the person it is written for it would hold a lot of sentimental value. I really liked that the pages aren’t too busy with pictures and the font is clear and easy to read and a decent size too so the children could follow it as I was reading it. My children would have liked the illustrations to have been a bit more eye catching but overall we enjoyed the poem and can see how a child would love the fact that a grandparent had written this special story to keep as a special memory.
