Ten Whizzy Racers: Chaos at Crackling Creek From Penguin Books Reviews

Very colourful, nice quality and good size of book. Jayden was very excited to read it, the colours were vibrant and he wanted to read it straight away. Jayden enjoyed this book. There was a lot to get through in the book, and a lot happening, in addition to the wonderful illustrations. There were a lot of ups and downs in the book and different to other books of this style where it is mostly focusing on the race, but this seemed like there was more going on. Jayden loved the rhyming and after a few goes was able to fill in the blanks with rhyming. I think this has helped with counting skills. Jayden already does well with his counting, but I’m sure this book re-iterated what he has learned. The book had a great story and kept Jayden and myself entertained. The story was different to other books of its kind and incorporated rhyming, counting and an exciting story – usually it’s one or the other. Beautiful eye catching illustrations that cover the whole page, and not just part of the page makes it much more engaging. This has been read 2-3 times a week for the last month or so before bed. Jayden loved the gingerbread storyline because his favourite snack is gingerbread. I loved the illustrations, very talented. The age span 0-5 is suitable. I think this can also be for older children, I would say 2-6 yrs old. The beautiful embossed/gloss finish looks like top quality. This is good value. It is a big book with a lot going on in the story. I would definitely buy this book. It’s better than a lot of other books for the reasons above – illustrations/rhyming/counting/storyline was all fantastic. I would recommend as it is suitable for many children who I’m sure would find an interest in at least something in the book. Everything was perfect. A lot going on in the book made it very exciting to read, compete with beautiful illustrations. Rachel Skinner – Jayden 4 Years

Absolutely loved the look of this book. Front cover very colourful and exciting. My daughter was exciting to see who won. Each hurdle she was hoping they wouldn’t stop kept wanting them all to win the race. Rhyming books are easier for her to remember. Absolutely helped with her counting skills. She recognised numbers. Absolutely kept my daughter entertained and we have read this book several times. Amazing illustrations definitely bought the story to life. We are reading every other day or so at the mo she really enjoys this. She loved seeing the winner. I loved how the story fell into place exciting pages. This was age appropriate for my daughter. Excellent quality pages easy to turn. Yes good value! £5 is usually my limit but yes would definitely paid the extra for this book. I would buy this book as a gift. Absolutely recommend. My nephew was read it and he enjoyed it just as much (he’s just 5). I really enjoyed this book the pictures had an excitement in which makes you want to keep reading. Emma Henbrey – Harriet 4 Years

The book came in a brown envelope. It was nicely packaged. The front cover was bright and appealing. My son was eager to read. He was so eager to zoom through the fairytale forest. He did enjoy the gingerbread forests it was a game so to speak. It motivated him to read on. The rhyming text always helps and makes the book easier to read and fun. This did help with counting skills. Yes the story kept him entertained as it was fast paced but also at the right speed. The illustrations definitely bought the story to life. It also helped him to understand and imagine. This was ready every day for ay least 2 weeks. My son loved the rhymes the colours and the concept. I liked that it appealed to my children and they wanted to read it over and over again. This was age appropriate for my son. My son is 2 and learning numbers and it helped so much with his confidence. It’s made of good quality paper. Not too bulky and heavy. Big book. Easy to read. It is slightly expensive for a children’s book and would be better around £4.99. I would buy this as my son loves this book. I would recommend as it is educational and fun at the same time. The price let it down slightly but it wasn’t extortionate. This book is educational, reinforcing numbers, bright, lots of pictures and not too much writing. It is a big book and story is easy to follow. Nadia Ahmad – Zoraiz – 2 Years
