The Four Little Pigs

The Four Little Pigs by Kimara Nye

Tom’s granny is a witch and when Tom says that The Three Little Pigs story is boring, Granny uses a spell to ‘magic’ him into the book. Tom must be clever to avoid being eaten by the big bad wolf!

A
great twist on a classic. The quality of this book is good and is child
friendly. My eldest son loved the book, and loves the pictures. Every page is
new and exciting. My two boys love the illustrations in
the book. Lovely bold colourful
pictures. Not too complicated either. My son loved this story. They both thought the story was great and
joined in with the book like knocking on the pig’s house. I think the book was
brilliant and a great twist on an old classic. Love how the book seems at the
end it can carry on with another book. I
would say the book could be a little cheaper by a pound or two. I would
purchase this book. I have already shown it to a friend who is a
primary school teacher who loves it too.
A great Classic with a twist, with fun for all the family. Elizabeth Stanley –

A bright, enticing cover with an intriguing
title. Good quality cover and pages,
nice size. Callum was intrigued by the
pig’s nose on the little boy on the cover and wanted to read the book find out
how he got it and became this mysterious fourth little pig. We liked the pictures. Callum thought they
were bright and fun. And we liked the way the text and illustrations were laid
out in imaginative ways. The Four Little
Pigs is a current favourite and a popular bedtime story choice. Callum is close to both of his grandmothers
and stays with them a lot so Tom going to his grandmother’s house in the book
resonated well: it’s a relatable entry point into a story that turns a familiar
tale on its head. Callum liked the combination of well-known fairy tale
combined with the witch’s magic spell catapulting the protagonist right into
the middle of the story. He enjoyed hearing how Tom outwitted the big bad wolf
with a few new little tricks! He appreciated the funny bits – the wolf sneezing
and falling over brought some laughs – great for bedtime as the big bad wolf
can sometimes be a little too scary for those with active imaginations. An
engaging story with attractive illustrations. Vocabulary could have perhaps
been a little more complex to teach new words. An enjoyable book to read to a four
year old – I liked the way the author added a new spin to an old tale although
I thought perhaps she could have come up with something a bit more original
than the granny being a witch. Overall a clever idea though and I’d like to see
more along the same lines from this author using more fairy tales. It’s hinted
at the end with the mention of Little Red Riding Hood – will that be the next
in the series I wonder? A fair price for the size, length and style of book.
Would possibly consider buying as a gift. Would recommend to friends/family
with similar aged children. Enjoyable and fun but lacking in the unique charm,
cleverness and exceptional language of, say, a Julia Donaldson title. An
engaging and readable book great for bedtime stories, which delighted my four
year old son and was fun to read to him. Zoe Lawrence – Callum 4 Years

Booked looked good quality and inviting
with bright colourful cover. Quality was
very good. My daughter wanted to read
the story straight away. The
illustrations are very good and make the story inviting. We enjoyed reading the book together and was
well written and a twist on a classic story which my daughter loved. The book was engaging, interactive and a good
story so yes stimulating for my daughter.
A well written and good illustrated book which we enjoyed. As my daughter loved this story so much I
would purchase as a gift. Price is high
but quality is good so worth the investment.
I have recommended. A great story
which my daughter loved to have read at bedtime. Richard Smith – Lillian 3 Years
