When this arrived looked bright colourful and inviting. The front cover made Bobby want to read this book instantly. This did captivate his attention and wanted us to read it more than once.  He loved seeing how the Unicorn’s horn could turn into the most incredible things.  He also found the story funny. I would say Bobby is a bit young to relate to the friendship aspect of this story. The illustrations really do bring this story to life. This book would be read every night. My son loved the unicorn and the fact he could connect it to his tablet so he could listen to the story when I was not able to read it with him. I loved the feature that enables me to be able to connect it to his tablet so it will read it for you. This books is very suitable and Bobby really enjoyed it. Definitely value for money because of the option to connect it to any device so it will read it for you. Fantastic quality nice and big the pages are nice and thick and not easily torn. I would buy this because Bobby really enjoyed the story and still does and the fact it can be read for you on a device. I would recommend for the same reason. Bobby really enjoyed this and I enjoyed reading it the story is very exciting and kept him engaged until the very end which is not always the case with Bobby, we was really excited to see he’s tablet could also read it to him, which makes it more engaging and great for parents that struggle with reading. The colours were striking and it looked like a good size book to navigate with my grandson. Sitting amongst his other books on his bookstand, this book did standout given the illuminous yellow. He instantly knew there was a new book and wanted to explore it. Stereotypically unicorns are more associated with girls, but this front cover did not give off a gender bias.  This did captivate Alex’s attention. The silliness of the different ways the NOT a unicorn could be used made for engaging examples in Alex’s life that were relatable. The fact the Unicorn’s horn could turn into incredible things was a great aspect of the book. Given the wide range of examples I was able to pick out things in Alex’s life that the unicorn could help him with – he enjoyed this very much. For me, the reader, to make silly noises and dramatic expressions to engage Alex – he definitely laughed a few times, and when he got to know the book, was able to make silly gestures and examples himself – especially about the ice cream spoon-icorn. I think there were a few too many icorns at the end for the sweet friendship to be tangible for Alex, but this was brought alive more by me, the reader.  The illustrations certainly did bring the story to life. This book was regularly picked out for the first 2 weeks, then less so and back to some old favourites, but not forgotten. Made more so by being able to listen to the audio in the car. Alex enjoyed the relatability to everyday things that he does. The audio link to a reading of the book was great as we could listen to it in the car – excellent feature. If you have a mature 2 year old then yes suitable, otherwise I would say a starting age of 3 is more accurate. It is a good book, but it is rare that I would spend more than £10 on a child’s book, so in my opinion £9.99 would be received better. Having looked on the website with a price of £6.99 – yes I would definitely buy this book. The pages have resilience, felt strong and able to be wiped clean when needed without damage to the book. Strong quality illustrations throughout which were captivating and visually pleasing to work through. I would buy this as it was enjoyable book to read as an adult to a child. Vibrant and rich illustrations as well. Good value for money at £6.99.  I would recommend for the same reasons. I think the ending had too many ‘icorns’ for a 2/3yr old. Overall good story and an enjoyable read. The book has been printed a good size, big enough for the adult and child to hold together without losing an ability to continue engaging with the story ad illustration. Vibrant, rich and engaging illustrations help your imagination take you on the journey of the story, pictorially making it relatable if the child is not always taking in the words the adult is reading. Having an audio version as well is great to continue living through the story in the car when you are out and about. It is also a good length, not too long to keep the child engaged with it which is always handy. Emily Clough – Alex 3 Years 4 Months

This arrived and looked bright with and eye catching front cover. When my son first saw this book he’s eyes lit up and he was so excited to see the book and read about the “horsey”. This story did captivate his attention. He loved all the pictures but at 2yrs old he didn’t really understand each one. He loved the rhyming of the story but was maybe a bit too young to understand it. Presently my son is too young o relate to the friendship aspect of this story. The illustrations ere lovely and definitely bought the story to life. We read the book every night for the first few days but he then left it for a week or so then has picked it about 3 times over the rest of the test period. I feel he loved the eye catching colours and the unicorn itself but at nearly 3 he didn’t understand the story as much as some of his other books. I loved the story and thought it was simple but effective. The colour choices and illustrations were fantastic. My son is 2 nearly 3 he loved the book overall but the story was a bit too complicated for him at that age. This is definitely good value for money. The book is very well written and the quality the book is made from is excellent. I would buy this book but maybe for when he was 3.5 – 4yrs when he would understand the story more. I would 100% recommend the book. The book is simple and eye catching and the use of rhyming is great for little ones I would 100% buy this book and recommend to family and friends.
