Time For Bed, Baby Book

The transition to motherhood is rarely seamless and it is important to me that we are open about the challenges. I wrote Time for Bed Baby as a love story to mums and babies everywhere, to encourage new parents to slow down and care for themselves as much as they do their newborn, not something we tend to do naturally.

My book provides families with a gentle end of day routine and a perfect opportunity for bedtime bonding.

The book also contains a unique self-care section for mum to help reinforce the idea that it is really important for each of us to take time daily to nurture ourselves as well as our loved ones.

The book was well illustrated, packaged beautifully and looked like a pleasant read judging by the cover. First impressions were good. It is a lovely concept for a book, we love to read before bed and this book was perfect for that. It was also good for explaining to my daughter what we would be doing with the new baby when it arrived. The cover was visually appealing and my daughter couldn’t wait to read it, she liked the fact it had a baby on the front. I loved reading this book to my daughter, it flowed well and she enjoyed the rhyming element of the book. The pictures on each page were visually appealing and we had fun talking about what was happening on each page. This book clearly explains some of the things you do with your child at night time and had some good tips in the back for how to bond with your baby. We loved being able to discuss our routine at the end of the day and my toddler was able to apply this to the new born arriving and what we would be doing with them. I found the section on self-care a pleasant addition to the book, it was something I have not seen included in books previously and although not something I would usually be interested in I found it easy to read and quite informative. We have only done the yoga and breathing exercises  a couple of times so far, but my daughter has enjoyed doing them when we have, we need to make more time available in the evenings so as to do it more often. We have not listened to the mediation as of yet. I enjoyed reading this book, my daughter engaged well with it and it maintained her interest throughout, the illustrations prompted her to ask questions such as ‘what is the baby doing now’ and this then meant we could have discussions based on what we were reading so as to broaden her understanding. The illustrations in the book are good, it looks endearing and makes the children engage more with the content of the story. on first opening the package we had to read the book 3 times in a row! After that we have read it at least once a week, although when finishing my daughter immediately wants to read it again! I think it is a good gift for new parents as it has a lot of longevity. The self-care section is good for when the baby is little but the child themselves will enjoy reading the book as they get older. good quality, pages were shiny and didn’t feel cheap to the touch. I think given how long this book will last it does represent good value for money, you could use it with a new born, but equally older children will also enjoy reading it. I most liked the story itself, it was calming and relaxing and quite engaging, both for the baby and for me.  The rhyming nature of the book meant my daughter was captivated and calmed by the pace of the story. my daughter most liked the way it resembled her evening routine as it meant she could relate to it and understand what was happening. I would buy this book, purely because of how much my toddler liked it. I would recommend this to friends and family, purely because of how much my daughter enjoyed it. this is a calming and relaxing story with a sensible and relaxing story at the heart of it. It appeals to children of all ages. Overall it was lovely reading this book, it was fun to read and really felt like I was bonding with my toddler whilst reading it. I definitely think it helped to improve our bond. Zoe Naylor – Chloe 3 Years 5 Month & Ava 4 Weeks

It is a lovely, light book with an appealing front cover. I love the idea of the book and it’s not something I have come across before. Each page is very relatable and really sweet and brings back lovely nostalgic feelings that I experience when doing my own children’s bedtime routine. The front cover was very inviting and it made me look forward to reading it with my children. I really enjoyed reading this book and my children enjoyed listening and turning the pages with me. As you read the book, you can’t help but smile as each page is very true to life and brings a nice fuzzy warm feeling as you read it so it definitely celebrates the early bond between a parent and child. the self-care section at the back was a really nice little extra touch to the book and really important, especially for first time mums when everything is so new and quite daunting. I tried some of the breathing exercises as I read it but did not do them often. However, I can see that they would be useful and beneficial for many mums. It was easy to access the meditation and very calm and soothing. Especially after a long hectic day, it was nice to listen to in order to unwind and have some time to myself. The book is absolutely wonderful and full of joy. I really enjoyed reading this as it made me smile. The illustrations were beautiful and colourful and captured my children’s attention as we read together. They liked pointing out the familiar things in the pictures. We read the book a couple of times each week and it brings us as much joy and fulfilment as the first time we read it. This would be a lovely gift for new parents as they will find the routine familiar and relatable and the relaxation and mediation resources helpful. It’s a lovely quality but I think a hardback edition would be great too as young children can be quite heavy handed and I fear the pages being ripped. I think it’s a great price for the book as it’s essentially a book for children to enjoy with their parents, as well as for the parent to enjoy themselves with the relaxation tips. I liked the writing the best. The rhymes are great for children to remember the story lines themselves and to recognise similar sounding words. My children just enjoyed the simplicity of the book. It’s very sweet and made us all smile and feel closer together. I would consider buying this for my friends who are expecting so that they can share the joy of it with their children. I would recommend this book to family and friends. It has become a family favourite and one that could be read over and over and enjoyed for many years to come. Great book. Very enjoyable and relatable. Highly recommend. Eva Tang – Ruby & Teddy 1 & 3 Years

my initial impression was how attractive the book looked in its pastel colours. I thought the concept was great, it’s very interesting and something I have never seen before. The cover definitely is inviting as it is very calming looking book ideal for bed time. I did enjoy reading this book and my baby seemed to enjoy it and has sat many times on her own looking at the pictures. I think the purpose of the book is met by  the lovely words, illustrated pictures and the interactions you can have with your baby whilst reading it. I thought the self-care section was great and a really good idea. I have never seen a bedtime book that is for parent and child in that way.  I did the yoga and breathing exercises twice a week and found them very relaxing. I found it very easy to access the meditation and it really help me to de stress and relax. It is a brilliant book and easy way to bond more with your baby. The book is beautifully illustrated and the use of the pastel colours makes the book look interesting and relaxing. They definitely caught her attention. We would read this 2-3 times a week. I think this book would make a lovely gift. the quality of the book is brilliant it feels like no other book.
