Wild Nature Diary & Calendar

Get ready for 2020 with the
Wild Nature Diary & Calendar

The wild landscapes of Britain are some of the most beautiful in the world. From the far North West Highlands and Islands of Scotland to the rugged sea cliffs of Cornwall are hidden corners of wildness, each with their own special creatures, plants and geology.

Yet these apparently unspoilt and natural landscapes are impacted everywhere by human occupation, overgrazing and blanket forestry. Positive action was called for in the face of this process of erosion and degradation and the John Muir Trust was formed in 1983, standing up for the wild land values pioneered by John Muir over a hundred years ago.

This website introduces those elements of land, nature, people and spirit that meant so much to him, and demonstrates that the natural world has a vital part to play in our lives through stewardship and preservation of ecosystems and natural resources.

The photographs within the pages of the Wild Nature Diary and the Wild Nature Calendar have been drawn from photographers with direct experience of encounters from the natural world in which we live. Each image tells its own inspiring story and helps us to connect with nature every day.

I hope you enjoy the scenes, textures and atmospheres of wild places throughout the year in the pages of the Wild Nature Diary 2020 and its companion Wild Nature Calendar 2020.

It was very nicely presented, not to heavy and not too big and bulky and visually nice. The concept is great, you forget that you live in such a beautiful country when you live in such built up areas, this is a good reminder. The design is phenomenal; the pictures are of outstanding beauty. I agree, you need things like this to remind us of what needs protecting and how beautiful but fragile it is. The have something visual, keeps this in your mind rather than just heating about it. You could not ask for better photos and scenery, they are exquisite.  The photos are very inspiring; it made me want to see all the places in our amazing country that I have not seen. The calendar is very easy to use; it is not too small text and gives you the previous month’s days at the top for reference, which is very handy. The boxes were big enough to right in. The diary is good, design good and meets my needs as I would have enough room to write, and it provides plenty of space for this.  It also has a small calendar which is super handy. This would be a good Xmas gift; it is extremely handy to have to keep organised as well as photographs of stunning scenery and animals. The quality is great, the colour is bright and bold, the pages are thick and non-flimsy, and so they would not break easy. I liked the photographs and the detailing of what they were. I think for someone who was very involved in this area, it would be good value; however it is not an amount I would spend for both. I probably would not buy both as I wouldn’t spend that much money on it, however I would buy one of the 2. I would recommend this to my friends and family who like photography and are into nature, as this would be perfect for them.  I would not mind educating myself more on the John Muir Trust. This is a great product, you cannot fault it, and you have great photos, a great synopsis of those photos, thick quality pages, not easily ripped and all the space you require to write in your details. You can educate yourself on all the wonders of the UK and stands as a constant reminder of our natural beauty. I haven’t had much experience with it yet as it is a 2020 calendar and diary, but I look forward to using it come January. Kimberley Pearson

When these arrived they just looked stunning.  The presentation and the pictures are outstanding. The idea of having a calendar and diary that feature all the wonderful images of wildlife, flowers and wonderful places of stunning beauty in the UK was brilliant. The Calendar is really lovely; each month has a stunning picture and with information on the actual picture for each month so you learn something new.  Also the spaces to write on each day are ideal.  The only thing I would say is this does not have attachment at the top to hang on the wall which I would have thought for the price would have been included.  I also liked the introduction to the John Muir trust on the first page. Think I might join. The diary is beautiful. Each page has a stunning image of wonderful scenery in the UK, animals and wildlife and information on each picture which was really enlightening.  The space on each page of the diary is ideal for all my needs to write down reminders and I just loved the quality.  I work from home so this will have pride of place by my desk and will be used daily. Both the diary and the calendar make you realise all the beauty around us and inspires you to also visit some of these wonderful places. The photographs are so could when you finish the diary you could cut them out and have them framed they are amazing. I had never heard of this diary and calendar before or the John Muir Trust and I do agree it would make a wonderful Christmas Gift, or special thank you gift or birthday present for anyone.  A really unique and beautiful gift. The quality of both these items is excellent. I loved the photographs the most just stunning and the explanation and information by each photo on the calendar and the diary. As a special gift yes well worth the investment as it is something you will enjoy and will inspire you throughout the year.  As a general regular calendar and diary it is expensive but I will definitely be buying some of these for Christmas presents this year. I would recommend to anyone interested in UK countryside, wild life and plants as it will give them so much pleasure. I had never heard of the John Muir Trust but will be joining and looking forward to finding out more. This really is something special and although you look at the price and think it is high for something that will make you smile all year round it is well worth the investment.  I just cannot wait to start using both in the New Year.  Amazing and the photographs are just inspirational. They were delivered in very good condition. The quality of the calendar and diary seemed very good although I wasn’t a big fan of the picture on the front of the calendar. The concept behind them are amazing as they work on conserving nature and wild life in the UK and the fact that they’re a charity based organisation makes the concept behind it amazing. At first sight I wasn’t a big fan of the calendar as the picture on the front of a rabbit’s eye and paws had put me off but going through the calendar, I was very pleased as some of the pictures in there are amazing especially to know they are places in the UK and are absolutely beautiful. As soon as I saw the diary I knew I would like it. The quality of the pictures in the diary is amazing and some of the shots taken in there are breath-taking. It definitely is inspiring as each picture has information and details on where each picture was taken and the history behind each picture. It also tells you why some of the population of animals may have been declining and what the causes maybe which is a firm reminder of what can be done to protect them and prevent further decline. The quality of the photographs is amazing and I am genuinely shocked to see such beautiful scenes in the UK. It made me realise there is such beautiful places within the UK that people may not know even exits. They have made me appreciate the wild nature here a lot more and has encouraged me to enjoy the outdoors a lot more. The size of the calendar is perfect and the boxes under each date is the perfect size to write down any appointments and very easy to see from a distance. The layout of the diary was ok but far too heavy to carry around in your bag. This will be an amazing gift for anyone who enjoys wild life and loves taking photos of the outdoors. It’s also a great gift for Christmas to get anyone kick started for the New Year. The quality is excellent and the diary especially is made of very thick paper and isn’t easily ruined as my son had accidentally spilled water on one of the pages and I was able to wipe it off without any of the water ruining the pages. I like the size of the calendar as it’s not so big and the boxes on the dates are a perfect size to jot down all your appointments. I really liked the pictures in the diary and found myself just flipping through the pictures often as it almost soothes you. The calendar is a little pricey and so is diary considering the fact the diary doesn’t really have a budgeting page or any place to write down contact numbers like my previous diaries had.  I would not buy the diary as it is too heavy for me to carry in my daily bag and has very little else you can do in it other than put in memorable dates. The calendar I may buy as the size is perfect although the price may put me off. I would not recommend as I can not imagine everyone being inspired to save the wildlife through these items. I would like to see the progress of the John Muir Trust and of their work and would like to see how their charity work also helps the underprivileged. Although some of the scenes are outstanding I don’t see this being extremely popular as the diary although is very big doesn’t do much else than have slots for you to put down important dates and the calendar at first sight can be a little off putting due to the picture on the front. The price of the calendar is also quite pricey and so is the diary. I haven’t actually been actively using them as of yet as I’m still using my diary for this year and my current diary is a fraction of the price compared to the wild life diary but has so many useful pages like a monthly budgeting page, important contact numbers, child’s important dates page and school holidays activity pages where I can write down activities and trips to take my children. Although the pictures in the diary and calendar are lovely and each picture shares some background behind them, they are only useful to write important dates. For me it’s a little too plain and the diary is far too heavy for me to take everywhere with me so kind of loses the purpose for me as I like to carry a diary with me everywhere to make sure I’ve not missed and appointment or an important date.
