The font used on the front cover was different to most books and being purple and in a wavy line it stood out. The illustrations looked appealing to children too. Great product, the book is well made and having a glossy cover allows it to be wiped clean! It is light and thin which is great for our house as we have a lot of books. Straight away my boys enjoyed looking at the picture on the front cover and when we read that Xalien was visiting the farm they couldn’t wait to read it. My boys really enjoyed looking at the illustrations, Ethan who is nearly 4 loved pointing out something different on each page. The colours used are great and it is simple enough for young children to enjoy. We have all sat down and read this as a family as well as individually and I can say all of us enjoyed it even my 10 year old! It helps that we all like aliens. When we finished reading the book for the first time we discussed how the children were helping Xalien to learn how to behave and what manners were. We talked about how sometimes we do things we shouldn’t without meaning to and that it’s good to be shown the right way by someone. I think it was great that it was about a farm as my boys love going to the farm but it had everyday situations in to which helps teach children good manners. The illustrations are great to keep younger children interested and when I read the book to the children they could recall the story well which shows they were engaged in the book. Really enjoyed this book it was well illustrated with a good story for younger children to learn from. This book is from a series of books and I would definitely purchase more in this series on more adventures from Xalien. The book is aimed at 4-8 year olds. My 4 year old loved the illustrations, my 6 year old enjoyed the story and explaining what was happening in the book, my 8 year old enjoyed trying to read the book although it was a bit tricky in places and my 10 year old loved being able to read it to his brothers. This book is very good quality. I think the book is reasonably priced compared to similar books in the market today but would be good if you could get the set of 6 books at a slightly cheaper price when brought together. I think the book is clever in the fact that children are interested in the illustrations but within the story it teaches good manners and how to think about others. We will be buying more books by this author and we are looking forward to reading the other books in the series (they are on birthday lists). I would recommend as I think this is a great way for children to realise that we all need help in learning what is right and wrong and it’s not a bad thing if you get things wrong sometimes. This book was very much enjoyed by the whole family and is a great way to get conversations started on manners and behaviour. I think this book is well made and illustrated with great messages being sent out throughout the book for children to learn from. Anne Rice – Ethan, Patrick & Dominic – 4, 6 & 8 Years

Front cover looked exciting; however the book was very long. Paper could have been better quality – will likely be ripped and bent by the children. My son is very into space and was excited to look at the book. He thought the front cover looked exciting and was interested in finding out about the story. The illustrations were basic but colourful and interesting. For my son the book was not exciting enough. He wanted to understand more about why the alien was on the farm, not just visit animals. Unfortunately my son did not relate to the Xalien character as the concept was too basic. We found the story very long and not exciting enough. The book was too complex in length and number of words but not an exciting or interesting enough story to warrant it. I don’t think it was appropriate for my 4:5 year old. I also don’t think it’s appropriate for any older children so am confused about the target audience. As this did not appeal to my son it would not be a book we would look to purchase in the future. I’m not sure what age bracket of children I’d think about recommending too. Very unclear target audience not interesting and exciting enough for a 4.5 year old. My oldest wanted to understand more in depth about the story but the concept was very basic and far too long. Laura Pearce – Taylor 4 Years 5 Months

Was really excited when we received this book as my grandchildren love books and enjoy us all reading stories together. The front cover was inviting and we all wanted to find out more. Very high quality book. My grandchildren really enjoyed this book and loved the illustrations. They both love aliens and enjoyed all his antics. Really liked the message in the book teaching children about manners and this created lots of discussions between us all. The illustrations bring the book to life and are really good. I had not heard of this series of books before, but as my grandchildren enjoyed the book so much we will be looking to buy more in the series. The age group this book is targeted at is quite wide, but for my two little angels we enjoyed reading the story together and in time they will read the book themselves. So it has longevity. A book that is high quality and well worth the money as has given us all some lovely special time reading together. I will be purchasing more books by this author as I was impressed with the story and how she writes. I have already recommended. A great fun story, easy to read, great illustrations and we all loved it. Also teaches children manners and how to behave so has a good strong message. Irene Halligan – Eleanor & Charlie 4 & 6 Years
