It looks just like a bit of rainbow-coloured string. Don’t know what all the hype is about? I loved the concept. Growing up in the 80s, I was a big fan of Cat’s Cradle and adults that visited us were soon joining in too. That “bit of string” meant many attempts with family and friends and lots of fun. The instructions were great. They really explained what could be done if you were playing with it yourself . We all loved the YouTube tutorials and found them easy to follow. They all enjoyed playing with it when it arrived and picked it up many times over the next few weeks of testing. We had previously seen it advertised on TV so they were keen to see it in real life. A variety of views on this one from my children. They all had fun with it but my girls seemed to appreciate it more than my son. He did play with it but not so much. My eldest in particular loved doing EVERY design and trick that she could find. It was played with daily in the first few weeks by both my children and also adults. I found that was an easy item to take with us to fill time when out and about. We all tried this. All ages would play with this with the oldest being 68 years old. We loved it as a family and older generations enjoyed showing what they used to do when younger. It really is well made with some helpful advice and tips on it to get the most out of the toy. I initially thought that it was just a bit of string but actually what you get for the price is really good quality and made to last. I like all the extras that it came with in that the instructions and tutorials really meant that there was lots to do with such a simple toy. I would definitely buy this. Without a doubt would recommend.  It’s a big YES from us. We loved the simplicity of it and how you could play on your own or with friends. I’m giving it a 5 out of 5. For such an easy toy, I loved that it was played with lots and actually I like that it’s not some huge, bulky toy that I have to find storage for somewhere. We loved the toy and found that it really was something that was enjoyed by all generations. Emily Shepperson – Alyssa, Harvey & Sienna – 11, 9 & 5 Years

Bright, colourful and interesting. I thought it looked good and would improve hand-eye co-ordination.  I did not find the instructions very clear.  Very good on YouTube, helped us understand the instructions much clearer. My daughter did enjoy playing with this toy and it did keep her entertained.  She did find it addictive and wanted to go on to the much harder patterns.  She would play this about 3 times a day at first, now just occasionally.  I tried this and my 5 year old son.  The quality of this item is excellent.  Great value for money.  Its pocket money price, so if they get bored with it not a lot is lost. Did encourage reading instructions and following tutorials, hope its improving hand/eye co-ordination also very easy to store. I would buy this. I would recommend as a good entertaining toy. Think it should be aimed more at 6+ 5 year old soon give up and lost interest. Value for money, easy to store and transport.  Found it useful to keep 7 year old entertained on journeys. Encouraged following instructions and tutorials. Janice Hope – Cara 7 years

My initial impression of the product was positive. It is eye-catching and I was interested and intrigued about the function of the product and how my children would respond to it. I like the concept of the product – taking a very simple and traditional activity and modernising to make it appeal to the children of today. Myself and my children found the printed instructions really hard to follow I’m afraid. The diagrams were not big enough and were very unclear. We weren’t able to successfully make any of the designs. The YouTube tutorials are clearer to follow than the diagrams. However, my children were not inspired to try any further designs. My children did not enjoy this product at all. Personally, I think this product is more suitable for older children. Because this product requires a high level of fine motor skills and planning skills I would say children 10+ would find it more beneficial and enjoyable. My children did play with this product and it held there interest for around ten minutes. However, interest in this product was not sustained.  This product was not addictive for my children but I can well imagine it would be quite addictive for older children.  My children did not play with this product beyond the initial trial session. I tried this product myself but it did not hold my interest. This product could well take up a fair bit of time, which as a busy mum I simply don’t have! Older children/adolescents may find this appealing in the same way as fidget spinners. The product is well made, strong, durable and brightly coloured. I personally would not be comfortable giving this product to a young child unsupervised due to the ligature risk. I would like to see it have the safety catch i.e. it should come apart if any significant pressure is placed on it. You can’t argue with the cost of the product. It is very cheap for an item which could potentially give an older child hours of entertainment. I particularly like the bright and colourful design of the product. I like the fact that it is extremely portable and can be played with anywhere. I like the concept of reviving old school activities and giving them a contemporary twist. I would consider buying this as a gift for an older child as a stocking filler type gift. It’s something different that I think most recipients would love to have a go at. I would definitely recommend this product for older children. It may well be one of those products with the marmite factor – you either love it or hate it. However as it’s so inexpensive it’s definitely worth a go! I can’t fault the appearance and the concept of the product but I would think it would be better placed marketed at older children. I am glad I had the opportunity to trial this product as it’s a great concept that I think would appeal to many. Not a hit with my young children but I would definitely buy for older children.
