Ot’s latest back-to-school collection taps into the chunky-soled, fashion-forward silhouettes that defined the 90s and now dominate TikTok and teen wardrobes. Think Mary-Janes with brogue detailing, patent lace-ups, and ‘don’t-mess-with-me’ loafers that wouldn’t look out of place in Nevermore Academy.
Whether it’s a Wednesday-wannabe embracing moody monochrome or a Gen Alpha trendsetter, Start-Rite’s 90s edit is designed to help kids explore personal style while staying protected in the playground and beyond.
Below is a snapshot of the collection, plus commentary from Start-Rite’s Marketing Director on how the brand is blending fashion and function for the next-gen style set.
Primary Collection: In primary, the chunky sole is crafted from a lightweight PU sole unit. The collection of styles in leather and patent options include Cosmos a Mary Jane with understated brogue detailing; Locket a T-bar style featuring glitter footbeds and heart accents; and Luna, a high-shine black patent closed lace-up.
Senior Collection: In girl’s secondary, the chunky-soled styles that come in both black leather and patent include Barcelona, a statement closed lace-up and Paris, a directional loafer silhouette in lightweight materials with accentuated heel. London is a chunky, contemporary pull-on Chelsea boot with fashion cross-over appeal that’ll take them from the classroom into the weekend.
