Busy Day: Firefighter Book Reviews

It was well made and not too flimsy which is perfect for a lift the flap book. It was colourful and looked good. My toddler was interested in it straight away. My 6 month old likes hitting the pages. It had an engaging front cover and I really liked that the firefighter was a female! Having had loads of lift the flap books over the last few years I was thinking that this would be the same as the rest however it wasn’t! The flaps open differently to provide a movement of the firefighter rather than show a hidden object and I’ve never seen this in a book before so I thought that was unique and really brilliant. This book did inspire children to explore. There was lots of sirens and exciting things for my children to be engaged in and lots of action so it definitely captured their attention. Every page was interesting for them which was nice. The flaps themselves are easy to fold but my child did try pulling instead of folding as some of them looked more like they were meant to be pulled. But that’s the beauty of the book in that it opens a movement so you’re expecting to pull it to replicate the moment rather than open. So once we’d done it all once it was pretty self-explanatory next time. This helps encourage fine motor skills and both my children reached and opened the flaps and turned pages. This did keep them entertained.  It was a good mix. As I said earlier, it was nice to see a female firefighter and the rescue of the cat was a nice little secret joke for the parents as this is a humorous stereotype of a firefighter. They loved the interactive aspect the colours, story and flaps. The illustrations were pleasing and engaging. They are quite soft and curved shapes which I think are quite warm and comforting for children too. We have probably read it about 10 times and we like it. I think the siren flap is a favourite part! I liked the materials it is made from as it’s very sturdy compared to others. The nature of the books means a lot of them get ripped but this isn’t easy to rip which is good and I think it’s much more durable and therefore better value for money. I think this book is more suited for age 1  to 3 years. My daughter is just getting out of the flaps style books and more interested in longer stories with more words and content, however she still enjoyed it but wouldn’t want to read it over and over. I think up to 5 is probably a bit old. My 6 month old is slightly too young but already he’s reaching to feel the flaps and turn the pages and by 1 he’ll have got the idea and be pretty engaged and understand the concept. This is very reasonably priced. The quality is very good. I would buy others in the series as they are quality, story is good, pictures, and different flaps to most flap books. I would definitely buy this book. I would recommend for the reasons above and I would get this book as a gift for a child’s first birthday as it’s perfect for that sort of age to grow into too. Great product. I really like this book and I would highly recommend. Emily Babb – Beau & Bonnie – 6 Months & 2 Years 5 Months

Vicky Awarded he Busy Day Firefighter Book 4.2/5

Looked like a really nice book, lots of bright colours. The front cover did inspire Phoebe, she opened the packet and wanted to read it straight away! Easy to use and lots of interactive parts. My daughter especially liked to dress the firefighter. The flaps are easy to lift, but sometimes on turning the page it bent the flaps if they weren’t quite put back in the right place. It gave her a chance to continue to develop her fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills. It was nice that different flaps did different things. My daughter enjoyed this story and joining in once we had read it a few times. She enjoyed lifting the flaps to complete the story. The illustrations were simple but bright and engaging. They definitely added to the story. When the book arrived we read it every night for a few nights before another story took over. It was then read about once a week. My daughter loved the interactive elements. I liked it was a nice simple story to read which was engaging at the same time. I feel this book would be better aimed at a more younger age range. I do agree this is good value for money. I liked the quality but as previously mentioned some of the flaps did get a little bent by the other pages. If my daughter was a little big younger I would buy more in the series, but I feel she is getting towards the upper age limit for this book and it may not keep her as engaged. I would buy this book as it is good quality. I would recommend for the same reasons. This is a really nice book which is fun and interactive. It is great for toddlers to introduce different things to them. Vicky Bantock – Phoebe 4 Years 6 Months

Alex Awarded The Busy Day Firefighter Book 5/5

This looked a really good quality and fun interactive book.  Anrika was drawn to the front cover and wanted to find out more. She loved using the flaps and enjoyed the interaction this book offered. She loved finding out what was behind the flaps and inspired her to ask more questions.  The flaps were ideal for her to lift and explore. This certainly did help improve fine motor skills and her hand-eye coordination. She really enjoyed the story and loved the fact the firefighter can save the day.  It certainly kept her amused and entertained.  The interactive aspect of this book was her favourite part.  I loved the way this was presented and written and that it was enjoyed by my daughter. This was read regularly every week as she enjoyed everything this book had to offer. I think the age suitability is ideal as perfect for my daughter and my 4 year old also enjoyed this book too. Very good value for money. Quality and presentation of this book is very good.  After reading this book I would definitely look to buy others in the series. I would buy this book as a present for my nephew.  I would also recommend as it has given my daughter to much enjoyment. Great book and me and my daughter have loved reading this and exploring the life of a firefighter. Alev Noble – Anrika 2 Years
